Same happened to me on the 24th after cancelling in June. Rang the bank and they refunded money and blocked DD. Got through to setanta same day and asked them what they where playing at. Said my account had never been cancelled even though i had followed their correct procedures at the time. Was advised i'd have to pay the 9.99 and a further 9.99 for Sept but i cancelled the account. they stated they would leave it running until end of Oct so i could get my moneys worth but i DD cancelled so they can do what they like! Never got any correspondance at all from them, no letter email or call to say they where creating a new DD. Hopefully that is the last of it but i expect I will be contacting them again!0

Hi yes same here. We did all the same stuff and still haven't heard from our bank. I wrote to them after having a payment taken out under Setanta Hibernian when we cancelled d.d in June and wrote to Setanta and then they took a payment from a d. d which had not been set up so wrote to them again and then wrote to our bank to say we wanted our money back etc so will be interesting to hear the response. Told them it was illegal and we wanted our money back as we did not authorise it. We are so disgusted with Setanta I am sure loads of folk are too and hopefully no one will bother with them ever again once they get their money back. Good luck everyone getting the payments back. Wonder what they will, call themselves next time?????Do a little kindness every day.;)0

After being in contact with my bank, having the DD refunded and the account blocked, today I received a letter from Setanta! This is the first they have made contact since they robbed me of £9.99.
We recently approached your bank in respect of your August subscription payment. Unfortunatley we were unable to collect this and therefore have had to suspend your viewing from our Setanta Ireland and Setanta sports 1 channels.:j:T
The letter then goes on to remind me of the great content I am missing and advises me of the number to resubscribe without penalty!!!!!!!!
Hopefully thats the end of the whole debacle!0 -
Switched over to the Setanta Ireland and Setanta Sports 1 channels on my 2 Sky boxes today and there it was the blue screen to subscribe
Hopefully that is the last I've heard from them

I cancelled Setanta over a month before they went bust - three letters, two phonecalls is 'all' it took...
Then no letter or warning but checked online account yesterday and found a payment taken on 24th Sept. Called them, useless. Called Halifax - go to branch.
So, went in today and initially they resisted - apparently they received an email this morning telling them not to refund and for customers to contact Setanta Hibernia.
I argued the bit. Eventually they agreed to do a reversal on a one off but cannot guarantee me that Setanta won't take again (even though I asked for DD to be cancelled permanently). They recommended closing the account and moving to another one!
Therefore folks - watch out. I'll be writing to my bank about the !!!! poor response and to Setanta Hibernia telling them to fck off. I will probably write to trading standards, the FSA and the local paper for shts and giggles whilst I'm at it.
Good luck with them
edit - as I never got letter, anyone got a useful named person and address in Setanta?0 -
After phone calls and an email had no effect, I wrote to Setanta Hibernia S.a.r.l, PO Box 26854, Cluny Court, Chapelton Drive, Kirkcaldy, KY2 9BH, stating that I had neither agreed to, nor wanted, their service; that I had cancelled the direct debit with my bank that Setanta had no right to set up; that my bank had refunded the payments that they had taken; and that I wanted an assurance that my personal details would never be used by them again. Needless to say, I have received no reply, but a few days later the setanta channels were at last 'blue screened'. I think that may be as near to a result as one can hope for! Hope this helps you.0

Hi just a quick update about my bother with Setanta. I have posted before about our experience with them, and had written twice to our bank manager to have the money paid back into the account. I did not hear from the manager, but rang the helpline number on screen, and got through to a lovely friendly girl who sorted it all out for me, and the money is back in our account again. So glad we did not lose out and hopefully we never ever hear of Setanta again, whatever they decide to call themselves next time:) Hope everyone else has been able to bring closure to this carry on too.xDo a little kindness every day.;)0

i noticed setanta hibs had taken payments for 999 through a direct debit i had not autherised firstly i got on to my bank who said they had received request to reinstate the old direct debit which i had cancelled when setanta went broke i imediatley cancelled said direct debit. pretty quick i received a letter asking for 999 in order to cancel .trading standards ni told me to write to them and demand refund of all payments sent recorded delivery and said they were compiling a file against setanta hibs. my bank is also making a claim to get refunds and told me that the financial regulator is now involved. suggest everyone gets on to trading standards and banks dont let them get away with this scam0
