Hi Curlytop
Yeah, they put on Party in the Park and Opera in the Park every July and then hold Fantasia at Kirkstall in September so that it is dark by the time the fireworks go off. It is really good but harder to get tickets for than Party/Opera as smaller venue (I think about 7,000 tickets as opposed to 70,000 or thereabouts)

We live in a first floor flat at the moment so it might annoy the neighbours
I have chili plants growing on the windowsill though and herbs in a window box. We will look at moving at some point, but we both have the sorts of jobs where travelling around is part of the work, so settling down isn't an option just yet
I had a large garden in my previous house, but I couldn't keep up with it to be honest (a 70 hr working week is not uncommon for me). I love seeing what other people can do though and always hoped some day I could find the time and spaceI already have a plan in my head of what I want it to look like
I have a great view from my office over the top of an old observatory into the University owned parkland though - that's my subsitute for the time being (even better because I don't have to weed it! :rotfl: )
You're right though, gardening is a national hobby:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Afternoon Me lovelies
another glorious day here weatherwise and I'm loving it.Cabbages looking worse for wear as they are covered in caterpillars and baby snails.I think I might have to admit defeat with them and bung them in the compost bin as there are more holes than cabbage left lol.I've spent the best part of the afternoon clearing out my wardrobe as I've had to remove all the clothes too big for me.A nice feeling but also a shame as the money wasted on clothes is ridiculous
MSD-Love the lavender fence its very sophisticated and glamorous and soooo you

Afternoon all.
Late online again today, as I've taken advantage of the sunshine to wash the alarming amount of stuff that was in the wash bin that had to be done by hand, on its own.
I shall be making mushroom risotto for dins in a while, to use up the few shrooms that are in the bottom of the fridge, then tonight we need to start early on some of the regular weekend tasks, as we're out Sunday afternoon visiting the wolves at the Anglian Wolf Society, as part of our wedding anniversary celebration.
I've managed to put together a reasonable card for Mr LW (oh the joys of being housebound unless carer is present) so I hope he'll like it.
Have a good weekend everyone - get well soon to those with piggy-pox, and ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Had to pop into Ludlow this morning and it was heaving with people at the food festival - DS2 went and sampled some delicious cheeses and sausages so he said.
Nothing OS today that I can think of - just the usual quick tidy round.

Evening all,
Spent most of the day at DD4's apartment, her lawn was like a meadow, so OH took over our small mower and did a great job on it, weeded round her plants and gathered all the grass for collection when its dried and shrunk a bit...I think that she and I are going carpet shopping to-morrow as that has to be done before she can move in any furniture, think she also wants to get her white goods if she can, she has a microwave, kettle and toaster at present!
Dinner was a very quick potato, steak, mushrooms and broccoli with steamed spuds...am trying to keep off bread as much as possible so am upping the spud and veg amounts....maybe I should just be more active, weight seems to be piling on at present...not happy about that.
Beautiful weather here for the last few days, to last for several more days I think...pity that the children are all back at school, they haven't had a good summer here at all, no boost of vitamin D.
Booked tickets for London for 6 days in early December, we have a wedding in Harlow on 5th so will spend a couple of days there and the rest in London....any chance of a meet during that time??
Going to bed soon as feel that feet need a good rest before I go shopping to-morrow!
Have a good weekend all, welcome to newbies and hugs to all in need or want.
