The simple fact is that come July, BT no longer have a monopoly on the local exchange services. In other words whereas at the moment all non-BT providers pay BT to use there lines, from July BT are obligerd to 'let these lines go' and other providors can provide an 'end to end ' service. TT's offer is good, but it assumes (for reasons various) that the tranfer will take place after regulations change. That means that there will be a whole host of excuses about the transfer dates but all of them result in a post July date. Once TT have 'got' you then no-one else can. Come July, other providors will also be able to supply an 'end to end' service but millions will have already signed to TT.. Good marketing move by TT.

Personally I have TT telephone, my parents have TT broadband and telephone, my in-laws have TT telephoneand none of us have had any problems. however, I intend to stick with my BB providor (tiscali) until July at least to see what other offers come available after the de-regulation.
  • Their international lines carry terrible service , poor quality with a really long delay. If you override their unusable service , by not using the 18418 service, they charge totally EXTORTIONATE RATES. The customer service numbers , etc. are clearly marked as free, on their adobe download of charges, but the grey small print far off from the zoom-in screen that you have to use to read it , states that their is a minimum £2 call charge on each call to these services. I am so angry. If I want to get out of this , I have to pay £70.
  • 08000855900 / 02088965000 This is carphone warehouse, haven't used this yet. Well I'm probably better off paying the £70, as I make so many international calls....

Threaten to complain to OfCOM - that will strike fear into the heart of the call centre rep... because OfCOM is so effective at its job <notable sarcasm intended>

If you have a billing or other enquiry its just the free 0870 number.

    QUOTE]
Hello KathrynPenguin - this is a shocker! You must know that 0870 numbers are NOT free, absolutely the reverse. Martin has just updated a previous article on the SayNoto0870 campaign. In fact, hearing reference to it on Radio 4 last year was how I came to this site.
Use the alternative no's instead or ask Whoever to phone you at their expense instead, clearly stating your refusal to use these expensive premium no's.
    Good luck.

If it's the 0870 TalkTalk customer service number then TalkTalk don't charge (or they didn't) if it's called from a TalkTalk line. Obviously if you call from an non-TalkTalk enabled line then the cost is up to 8p/min.

I agree people shouldn't confuse others by saying the 0870 number is free.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
