I didn't no! It was lovely there though and I *did* buy one or two non-essential decorations (half price) but I could see signs of cutbacks....not as many carol singers and HALF SIZE pieces of Quiche!!!!

Didn't see you there, Dragon. 2011 is definitely a year of eating healthily for me - lots of variety, lots organic. I use cornflakes, for instance, and Sainsbo's own organic is only 79p for 500g - admittedly I'm absolutely sure that the profit they're making is tremendous, since the basics price is 31p - but ordinary cereal is £2 or so, crazy, so 79p is not so bad.KC, sounds like you have had a very productive NSD day. At least what you bought was essential and of use at Christmas. Time to worry is when it is on the non essential stuff.
It wasn't bad, thats true, there was nothing that was out and out crazy. It was lovely there though and I *did* buy one or two non-essential decorations (half price) but I could see signs of cutbacks....not as many carol singers and HALF SIZE pieces of Quiche!!!!

I hate it when they cut down portion sizes!!! Its a concern, isn't it, when you can *see* the cuts happening - discussing it with friends yesterday - funding to go on counselling courses, for instance, just disappeared this year, tho it *might* be back on track for next year. And NVQs seem to have dried up completely.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

The government has finally shut Train to Gain, you can only use the funding you have already been given and once its gone it gone, the replacement plan funnily called Matrix or something along those lines it not going ahead, so now we have Apprenticeships as the sole version.
Everything is ready to paper, but I am really not happy with the Focus satin gloss paint, it scuffs far too easily and does not seem to create a hard layer like other gloss paint, I've used 3 tins at £8.99 as well. Going to go ahead and paper, and then see how it goes, might complain to Focus as its their own label, and then if necessary paint another brand over normal gloss carefully over the top. If it wasnt for Christmas I'd do it now but I just don't have enough time (or energy).

I didn't know the detail, Pippa, didn't like to ask, but thanks for letting me know. So thats IT?

Isn't that horrible when the stuff you've bought doesn't do the job! And with Christmas, you just have to let it be - I've no idea what's going to happen if the plumber doesn't come tomorrow to put the toilet in - I suspect we might end up constructing my mother's bed in the lounge, which I'm in two minds about!
For me today, same old same old - I'm getting really bored with to-do lists :rotfl:and even ta-da lists don't have the attraction they did:
- one hour paid work
- lots of phone calls and emails
- check the Christmas letter I managed to write yesterday, and print some copies, so I can start sending out some dratted cards.
- ooh, do that census job application.
- drink a glass of something nice2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thats settled then
I've just been doing the vacuuming before I wash my hair - dust gets everywhere when I vacuum  have finalised my pressie from my mum (orange san francisco in grey via quidco), got *lots* of work for both Mondays either side of the holiday season, done the recycling, done my brother's thing on the web I needed to.
Now the hairits still chilly enough that I *hate* washing my hair, I'm such a !!!!!! :rotfl:

Yes, it is busy in the end - I suddenly felt *really* tired, so I'm taking it a bit easy now, but I have to pay one of the electricians, so must pop out ... oh and a phone call too. Blah.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
