KC, what you're planning to do with the duvet sounds great! And I'm sure your mum will be appreciative (and great that she doesn't move very much in the night - my mum is proud of exactly the same thing :rotfl:). Good plan to make a blind etc too - you're so clever! :T

    Sounds like you're getting a lot done too - hooray! :T :T

Hello all of you - KC glad you like my dodgy second hand wellies - did giggle at the duvet story - thats so very *me* too!

Cheery I do need a list - not long now and a whole heap of work/life/stuff to do!

EH - I've always loved the 'looking into other folks lives' bit - and you're making money - win/win!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

:rotfl:Lula, you've managed a massive Christmas type visit already! And I *know* you've been shopping fit to bust :rotfl: but I do love the image of you only being routed out of bed by the power signal on the lappie :rotfl:

Dont Panic Mrs KC!!!!! I am sure that whatever you get done will be more than enough for your Mum. I meant to say that I love the photos of your garden. I have garden envy :)

No, it'll never be enough for *her* - I'm the one she both talks to and disapproves of :D its set up for a no-win for me within the family. I have to be happy to know that I've tried my best to take care of her.

Thanks for the comment on the garden too! The garden is one of the reasons I bought this house, truly - its small, flattish, and even tho its overstocked, it has *good* stock that I want to keep. And it has two patios :D

I was going to suggest keeping the sewing machine too - I think it might come in handy in the new year when you and I are making roman blinds and sharing tips! :D

I need to write a Christmas list too, there *are* people I've forgotten and the clock is ticking

Have a good day and as Gill says - DON'T PANIC!! :)

:rotfl: I forgot about that already! I think I was so envious that she knows how to upload pix directly to the site :rotfl: I'm absolutely *not* keeping the sewing machine - I loathe it, I was puzzled when I got it, I've no idea how to work it, never used it, there are no verbal instructions, just 3 puzzling, 50 year old diagrams - I'm honestly well shot of it. For what I can do, basically straight lines, I'm much happier hand sewing.

But as you say ... the clock is ticking :snow_laug

Isn't it funny they're so proud of the oddest things :rotfl:

And I *am* getting things done, I'm quite spooked actually :D though I know cleaning the windows/windowsills/blinds/nasty bits in the corner will take forever. I will get there!

My kitchen at the old house was so vile I never allowed myself to look at other people's kitchens in that way, it would've been too upsetting, tbh. Now, I have a kitchen in a big square room - storage is an issue, as you know, but it looks like its going to be really nice :)

And Pippi, I love your wellies - seen your blog post about them too :)

EDIT - right, off now to go buy things :)

I'm back from buying things - and I really did. Wilkinsons is a weird shop- they must buy their stuff from dreadful sweatshops, worse than Primark, I can't think of any other reason why they're so cheap. I wanted a pyrex dish with lid, so I could do two Christmas puddings at the same time, 1l each - and I got three, in a box, for £7 - they're not pyrex, admittedly, but they are glass thats microwave, dishwasher, and ovenproof safe, so who cares? Plus a single 10.5 to duvet - I though it was £11, but it was £6 or something. Plus a loo brush for 99p, some cards to send long distance (i.e. before I brave the shed) for 80p. It was bargainous :) Then I went to Waitrose, and bought 6 more foodie items for £8, including 74% cocoa bars from Lindt :) And pesto :) Plus "cheapo" 70% chocolate from Lidl so I can melt it over something while my mum is here.

That lot was really heavy - thankfully I'd taken my trolley case, but dragging it through re-freezing slush is not good - and its *so* cold now, its awful. I can't tell you how glad I am to be inside in the warm, no matter how much the fuel costs.

    .
I think a lot of Wilko's stuff is remaindered from warehouses etc. as it tends to be branded stuff, same as H&B. I get DS drinks from there, don't see why I should pay 4x the price in a supermarket.

Stay warm, its freezing again here.

Good point, thank you. I can't afford *not* to buy from there. Okay, thinking about inviting prosperity ... I choose to buy there - as you say, branded goods are so much cheaper there, it doesn't make sense not to. Right. I choose to buy there in the spirit of the mse masthead: UK consumer revenge!

I'm definitely staying tight inside my house: my teeth are still aching a bit from being outside early this afternoon. Hope you had a good one - off to see your thread now.

Well, morning all (eventually :) ) I'm a bit shocked at *quite* how early I got up, I've already been reduced to fiddling around trying to get batteries inside the LED lamps I bought for my previous house, to put them under the wall cabinets in the kitchen - its all about using what I've already got :j to provide a higher living standard.

Today, I've got 2.5 hours paid work, so that comes first. I was going to collect some presents I ordered online from M&S, but they're not being delivered till Wednesday now, so I'll go over the weekend, I think. At the moment, then, this is the list:
    - finish the LED lights thing - I hate having too many projects on the go, so thats urgent.
    - bit of vacuuming and whatnot, to make the place look respectable for work.
    - I have time now to pop to Sainsbury, for my own stocks, for foodie presents, and for the making of more birdie fatballs (vegetarian this time :rotfl:)
    - phone calls and arrangements: *must* ring the floor layer, and must ring the NHS secretary of my consultant, find out whats what.
    - I'd like to do - I'd like to have done some cleaning, otherwise I'm left with an awful lot to do immediately before the holidays, but because I loathe it so much, its kind of unlikely :p

That is an early start - at 7:42 I was in bed grumbling at the heating making a noise as it came on!

Achy teeth aren't good - brrr!

Ahhh Wilkinsons.. a weird mixture of tat and really good bargains.. love it (they also sell an eco-friendly range of cleaning products which actually work) :D

We made fatballs yesterday, rather messy :rotfl:

I wish I could sleep in later, but when I got up, I'd already been lying there for ages, and the urge for a cup of tea became irresistible :coffee:

I've finished fiddling with the LEDs :) and I've done lots of tidying (mostly of the recycling, which was cluttering the porch :o). Just going to do those two phone calls, and zoom off to Sainsbo.
