Hope the hornet is easily evicted today, KC. Try ringing the council (they may have a weekend "hotline" number, otherwise you may have to wait until Monday). They come and sort out wasps nests, so am sure they would do hornets too.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Thanks Hypno, thats a really good idea - oh my word, you were up early ...... I managed to get about 5 hours sleep .... and this morning, I can't find the hornet. I saw it, twice, I know its in the house - I kept every door closed, I'm as sure as I can be that its still in the kitchen. But of course I had that pest controller in earlier in the year - he sprayed around the edges of the ceilings and the edges of the floors, with a paralysing agent (I apologise........) and it may have just gone into a little place behind the washing machine or something and died.
I have a friend coming down from Surrey for the day, so I really don't want to do anything today. I've got my vacuum cleaner set up so it can be used in the kitchen really quickly - if the hornet comes out, I'll suck it up in the vacuum, then run outside with the container to the verge on the other side of the road (no houses there, I'm still the nearest house!) and put it there. I'll run the vac. for as short a time as possible, so it might just be groggy for a bit and fly away somewhere *else*.
Sigh...... it was all going so well, as well. I wanted a good sleep so I could be out today...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Woo hoo :j I found it
tho I think its dead - it had crawled onto the hob and just lay there and let me suck it up into the vac. Poor little thing, it didn't actually *want* to come into my house, after all
I had a meal sorted out ready to cook for my mate - I'll make do with buying a main course ready cooked, and do some microwave rice or something. Life's too short.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I was just showing my friend some stuff on the computer, and I won £10 on the free bingo...2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That was really good, that bit! Tho yesterday, I went into Nationwide to pay a tiny balance - I had one spend on the new credit card of £3.50 or something, and I was paying it *on* the due date, so they're within their technical rights to give me a late charge of £12  very annoyed with myself, but I'll appeal it when the payment gets onto the account.
I've got an ordinary list of stuff I *could* do - this email, that birthday card, that piece of gardening, blah blah, the only thing I really must do is buy a birthday card for my little great nephew Samuel, who is one year old on Wednesday. And clear up so I can get the structural engineer around the house tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day - its lovely here, cold but clear.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope your meal with the friend was nice
and well done on the bingo win I haven't ventured into bingo or scratchcards yet.
Grr to late charges......weather is foul here today - landlord popping in later - which always makes me nervous bit like seeing a policeman - whilst I know I haven't done anything wrong I end up standing up straight and looking nervous like a convict anyway.
House is clean and tidy so I shouldn't worry really.......Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

The meal was lovely, thanks - I didn't *cook* at all, as I fell back on Plan B, but it was still fine. And we had choccies for afters, that she brought along
Hopefully I'll be able to appeal the late charge, its disproportionate cos of the amount I spent, fortunately, that should help.
I know what you mean about the landlord! We rent rooms in London to work, and *every* time I have contact with one of the people we rent from, I get very wary - no real reason, apart from disliking their charging method, but the charges themselves are very fair. Hi ho - I guess most of us feel like criminals ( a resentful criminal, in my case :rotfl:)
Just off now to takeabreak - they don't give real money any more for the scratchcards, just bonus, and I'd let the bonus build up so I could get the max no of cards on 3 games. Two have gone, and I've won nothing - I'm hoping this last one will have brought me something, but I *really* suspect not :rolleyes:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sounds like you had a lovely day with your friend....nothing beats a good natter with a friend.0

I think today is subsidence day
Hope everything goes well.
I fell in love with a house once right on the beach the surveyor said it would still be standing in 40 years but he couldn't guarantee where
