Yep, the bingo's been great. Rest of the list for today:
    - deffo managed to clear the kitchen, and have unpacked nearly all the shopping. I think I may have gone a bit overboard :o and its definitely my mouse's fault that I triple clicked on gravy granules and tomato ketchup :o:o:o
    - put the washing machine on again, rescuing a couple of stored sheets that need a wash, and rescuing material from beloved clothes that are too small for me now but I don't want to disappear - I'll make a fleece-type throw from them.
    - been running about like a mad thing sorting stuff so that the structural engineer can get in the place on Monday - seems he needs to look at every room, to assess the cracks in the plaster

That sounds bad with cracks in your plaster.

Nearly all of them are between the ceilings and the walls - there's one just over the fireplace, but thats been there for the whole time I've been in this house, and never moved, so I'm pretty sure its okay.

Twenty years ago today....... the hurricane! I'd been in my first house for 3 weeks, slept through it, woke to no electricity, no buses to work, trees down across loads of roads.... and my mum rang me and all she kept saying was, "have you switched the tv on?" Er, no, I've got no electricity and I've got to get to work, why are you ringing me? I rang her back when I got to work and explained that there'd been a hurricane

Today, I'm off to London with the first experiment of the cheapo travel - will National Express let me use a funfare from an intermediate stop? When I booked it, they said yes, but drivers have their own ideas about these things. Will I be able to collect the cheapo ticket at Victoria to get back? Will the arrival of the train and the bus home coincide? These are the dilemmas of my day  dear god, what an exciting life I don't lead......

OTOH, I was quite excited that I've booked my tickets for Christmas: £28 single up to Liverpool, and £18.50 for me *and* my mother coming back down to London between Christmas and New Year. And another £35 or so all told for the fiddly bits on either end, total less than I paid last year for a straight up and down journey for me. :j:j:j

That's a brilliant price for the train tickets. Good luck with the buses, I think you should be fine...

Wow, the hurricane, I was in a caravan in the Lake District (October half term holiday I guess) - not as bad as some places, but gosh it was noisy at night!

I *really* don't think I'd like to have been in a caravan! Fairly sure nothing like that is going to happen this weekend :D

Thanks folks! Yep, the London thingy worked, it was clockwork. However, I'm going to try to see if I can do both ways by train - I was on the coach for about two hours on ordinary roads, and it brought back a bit of travel sickness, I really wouldn't want to do that regularly. Still fast tho - I was in the house by 11.30, which was great.

I have another problem now :o There's a hornet in the kitchen. How the h*ll did it get in? More to the point, how am I going to get it out? I'm certainly not going to try in the dark, and I'll just have to hope it doesn't find its way into the rest of the house overnight  I'm a bit desperate for tips here. And I have a friend coming down for the day too :o:o:o Do I just call a pest control somebody or other? Or the neighbour? Helllllllllllppppppppppppppp

yep ........ I can't see anything about how to get rid of them. I'm shattered now - I'm certainly not doing it in the dark........... going to try and get to bed and just *sleep**.

    Thanks Taxi.
