Youth hostels can be a really good idea - I was using them less than ten years ago - in my *present* state of health, I don't think they'd be a good idea - no privacy, nowhere quiet, no private loo. But when I'm well, I'd certainly go back to them. One of the guys I met at the youth hostel in Iraklion on Crete was in his 60s, and I'm not *there* yet
Don't necessarily discount youth hostels KC - I worked for the YHA for a couple of years, and we had private rooms with en suite loos and everything! There's some pretty posh places out there these days! :T That's this country though, not sure of abroad, but worth checking out! I love youth hostels
In fact, if I hadn't gone all intellectual for a while I'd still be working in one - and I've often wished I was :T I miss it :T

all the herbalist stuff sounds interesting and plenty of food for thought there.
travel talk is also very interesting.
great that you got to see wol as well x0 -
I didn't know that, Cheery! I'll check on the site....
Right, health actions today:
- no more microwaving the porridge, so I put it to soak last night. Oops - the manuka honey I have at the moment is hard set, so it isn't dissolving when I put it in this morning - must remember to put that in overnight as well.
- I've got the water filter going - the herbalist said the brita ones weren't good enough for the acidic thing she's talking about, but they're better than nothing (and I've only just bought them) so I've used them.
- told family I won't be eating the usual Christmas stuff, so I will *seriously* be on the lookout for alternatives.
- I'll make a checklist for health stuff, stick it on the wardrobe, which is in my field of vision when I'm at the computer
I thought I had 3 hours work today, but its only two - the feeling of relief was intense.

Sounds like you're in for a productive day KC! :T Good on you taking control of your health, I'm really mpressed :T :T Can you melt the honey with a little boiling water to soften it?
I must really look at my own health/eating sometime soon tooI'm not cooking properly at the minute really, combination of idleness and not wanting to be too distracted from Phd
We have managed to solve one issue thoughKind of. I'd like to eat more fruit, but I buy it, and if I don't eat it within a few hours, Mr Daffs eats it (he's a complete fruit fiend). Came up with a solution the other day which sounds a bit daft but which doesn't involve him 'just having a bit more willpower (because we all know how successful that is sometimes!) - I'm going to get a small cage of some kind and put a combination lock on the door :rotfl: So fruit is out in the open, I can see it, but he can't get at it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Just on the look out in charity shops now0 -

That might well destroy the antibacterial properties, tbh - I'll just put it in with the other stuff to soak overnight, then squish it round in the morning.

Its *so* easy to happen!

I'm bad at eating fruit - I've just bought some frozen packs, if I take out a portion each day and defrost each bit, it should work. Got to use food combining too - not to eat it with any other sort of food, and to wait 20-25 minutes after eating fruit before I eat anything else. I must put those main food combining principles on my checklist, actually (which I've just started to rough out).
I washed my hair too - it was disgusting, I was really hoping the herbalist wouldn't need to look at my scalp, and fortunately she didn't2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning, sounds like the herbalist was a worthwhile experience - I really hope it all helps. She sounds like an interesting character!
There are some lovely single/ double rooms in hostels now - me and a friend stayed in an amazing one in Krakow (http://www.hosteldeco.com/) although the twin room was right at the top up many flights of stairs (not good after lots of Polish vodka...)Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Ooh, thanks Squizz - I tried searching the English site, but it only gives you the option of searching for family rooms, not single rooms. Will do it later - I'm working at 10.20, and got to dry my hair. I'm also on Virgin bingo - the free room if you played £1 of bingo yesterday? I might not bother again actually, even tho I'm eligible for another day - turns out the prize is £1, and for the faff of buying tickets literally every 5 or 6 minutes, its not worthwhile. In fact, I'm not going to, after this client arrives, my time is more important than that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

http://www.hostelworld.com/ is good for tracking down the hostels which have single rooms too. Hope work goes well - and yep the bingo sounds like a waste of time!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
