I was thinking that momentary breaks in the landline connection, of 30 seconds or so, could potentially play havoc with my trading - if I can't get out of a trade when my signal says to get out, the potential for loss is quite severe.
I only have phoneline broadband now, there's no cable here, and I'm a little disconcerted by that - but if you're saying that even phone broadband is better than mobile broadband .... then I guess I stick with what works (and buy a bigger computer).
First of all, how long have you had this connection?
During the first few weeks the modem/DSLAM "train" together and discover the characteristics of your line. They will cut out momentarily while doing this.
It may also be that your ISP is not very good. During times of trouble, open up a command prompt and type "ping www.bbc.co.uk" - let me know what the results are.
Also try "ping 198.41.0.4" as well, and keep the results."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Well quickly glossing over the fact that I have met you ........
Where I'm sure "talents" weren't part of the conversation...
I was referring to your encyclopedic knowledge of course

Oh! Taxi said something similar last night, tbh - it opened up on 25th September, Z. I'm back with Virgin Media, from Virgin Cable.
I'll do what you suggest (of course! Its like a command from The Queen :rotfl:) but ... how do I open up a command prompt? Sorry to sound so thick ........2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
A phoneline broadband is usually better than a dongle.I was getting a few timed out pages so just unplugged the modem for a few minutes and then plugged it back in and it was fixed.
Can you not phone your broadband company up and ask for their advice?
we don't have cable here either but don't have problems with the speed of the internet usuallly...hope you can manage to get the speed sorted ok0
