No I was referring to your 'how long have you had this connection' post but KC sneaked a post in first.

but ... how do I open up a command prompt? Sorry to sound so thick ........

It's not a case of sounding thick - you either know or you don't, and the only stupid question is the unasked one.

It depends on your version of windows - XP, click start then run then type in "cmd"

Vista I believe it's cmd typed into the search box.

Both of them have it under programs/accessories/command prompt (from memory - it's somewhere round there...)

Well, if you're a dancer, DD's dance school a shortish walk from the train station you'd get off at a few stops down from your town to mine does adult tap/modern classes. Just imagine, if that was your bag, you and DD could be in the same dance show next year!!

Me, I'd be the perfect dance partner for Z, I'd make Anne Widdecombe look good! I loved it when she said "if you think this was bad, just wait til the samba", bless her...(hope someone reading this watches strictly :) we're sequin and twirly dress girls in this house, well DD is, I'd just look daft!!)

You do have other places to go - spread yourself around. Go into other people's threads... Go poke their soft furnishings and make yourself at home...

Then spread chaos, entendre and innuendo like what I does... ;)

A phoneline broadband is usually better than a dongle.I was getting a few timed out pages so just unplugged the modem for a few minutes and then plugged it back in and it was fixed.

Although that fixes the connection problem, Taxi, it doesn't fix *my* problem, which is being able to exit a trade at any time.... where's the dagnabbit confused smiley?

Can you not phone your broadband company up and ask for their advice?

It upsets me for at least a day to have to actually speak to them.... they're so incredibly patronising and stupid, I just can't bear it. I know I shouldn't be like that, but I am....

we don't have cable here either but don't have problems with the speed of the internet usuallly...hope you can manage to get the speed sorted ok

    Me too ...

The reason for my absence just now, btw, was exactly the problem - and I couldn't do the command prompt thing, either, it just decided not to play and the page went white. Nothing at all. Actually, it wasn't that I couldn't do the command thing, it was that I hadn't written it down :o:o

Love that view of diaries. I often use the expression 'off to trundle round the diaries'. I see them as a series of homes, and you sort of pop your head over the wall to see if there's anything interesting going on, if there is you may stop for a chat, otherwise you move on or go home. Sometimes people tell you about new diaries, so you have a quick look before deciding to pop in.
