The dandelions bit puzzled me - do you just eat the petals, or the green bit that they're attached to as well? Cos *that* bit looks downright unpleasant .. my god, I miss that confused smiley.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

You can eat the whole thing I think, I just had the petals scattered over some salad.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I think I'd rather do what you did, than what Alys did - fry the whole thing in some batter, including the green bit, it looked disgusting  little petals, that'd look nice :beer:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'm really quite annoyed with myself right now. I've been trading, as I thought - got my alarm set for every 15 minutes, which is what my trading plan dictates, I've been dropping everything when it goes off and checking out the things I'm working with. And I haven't posted about today before now, because my trading time finishes at midday. So here I am: there was a lovely little move which would've given me *all* my points for the day at 7am. And I was online, and I was watching, and I didn't "see" it. Its clearly within my trading plan, but its a small move as these things go, and all I can think of is that I looked at it with too small a magnification and dismissed it out of hand, I didn't even do the very elementary sums that would've said, yes, this one's in your favour.
In 15 minutes, I'd have made a net profit of 24 points - £24 at current levels - and if I'd stayed in the trade, as an experienced trader would have, in one and a half hours I'd have made 65 points. How annoyed am I? Very.
I know this doesn't make sense to people, but I just needed to write it as a note to myself - to work it out each time, and to ask "if .... then" each time.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
...slinking out of lurkdom to say a belated congratulations on your debt free status!!!
...also, baby dandelion leaves are great shredded in a salad - a bit like rocket, slightly more bitter - they are a great detoxifier - help clean out the liver & kidneys - dandelion tea can be lovely too - brewed from shredded leaves, strained and with a touch of honey to sweeten - and last but not least the root can be used like parsnip or daikon radish - great substituted in parsnip/potatoes latkes or roasted in small pieces with sunday veg

Hi there
can't comment on the trading - but can comment on the Edible Garden book etc
I've her other book 'The Thrifty Gardener' - which is absolutely brilliant and I would recommend it as a loan from library or something...............
needless to say my own copy is not listed on Amazon (which speaks for itself!)
Great info about dandelions- don't fancy eating them myself - happy to leave them for the bees
Both are also on amazon for decent prices..............Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Hi Fay - I always wonder about that too, that when you forage, aren't you taking food out of the mouths of the insects and whatnot? All I can think of is that by the end of the winter, when I had an apple tree in the front garden (it was one of the things that caused my wall to fall down!) there'd be loads of apples left on the tree at the end of the winter, the birds would eat 20% of one, leave another, and so on. I reckon, if I eat a flower, especially one I've grown myself, I'm entitled to have some of them after they've been open for maybe three days, give the bees a chance to get what they need? Interesting tho, how our minds work!
And it *does* speak for itself that you've not put your copy of her book onto amazon
I've been out doing a mystery shop in town, and then hopped over to Sainsbo's. Really pleased with purchases: had to buy £5 at a convenience store, and I'm always wary of splurging because its expenses - expenses are taxed, after all - so I got a litre and a pint of milk for 95p, 4 nouvelle toilet rolls reduced to £1.25, Hellmanns mayonnaise for £1, four *huge* choccy cookies reduced to 90pand some lovely "blush" pears.
Plus cheapo tissues, cheese, baps, and teabags at Sainsbo. Monthly money for supermarket purchases is a bit cockeyed right now, because I'm trying to use up so much from the storecupboard, but I reckon it'll be okay - and once I move to HH, I'll have a freezer, and access to the shops for the best deals, and later on produce from the garden:D:D so it'll all work out :j
Got to input the shop now - little bit worried about that shopping, actually, as I realise the questionnaire wants you to list your spends on fresh food, but the briefing notes definitely say "if the store isn't X or Y (and mine isn't) you are free to spend the £5 allowance on anything you wish. Please note we will be capturing your recipts." Thats pretty definite! My receipt, of course, is roaming about with the birds on top of my flat roof ( sorry! I couldn't resist) but otherwise its fine.
Okay. Onwards and Upwards. See you all later - and thanks for reading the trading post all

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:That gave me a good laugh
Its just, its so far out of the norm, I feel like I come from Mars when I prattle on about that
but I need to, since its really my second job.
And thats the change I can make to my trading mornings - and I'll state it on here. Yes, its a job, and the boss doesn't allow access to any social websites. So I can't come on here - because even when I put my alarm on, I'm not doing it properly because my brain is actually with mse. Naughty KCI've got some paid work finishing at 2, so I'll be on soon after that tomorrow. And right now, I'm going to eat something else and then loll about for a bit. Sleep well all
