I think Bookie got out of that one because the conditions with Amazon etc were so poor. I love the sound of it, but I'm not hopeful. I'd love to specialise in travel and history books, but I doubt it'll happen.
Writing what? Or are you going to become the new Banksy... Erm, no  I was thinking more of odesk and the websites where you bid for work. When I write articles tho, its always been as a hobby, for fan magazines, and tho I get a lot of compliments, I don't spend an economic amount of time writing them.
What do you mean you know? What would it be about? Erm, shall I say your doubt about the green argument:o:o Anyway, so many green websites are about daffy gift ideas, or ideas, or using less. I'd be aiming towards people doing house renovations. I'd be the Martin Lewis of the green movement
That's very seasonable work - agreed. I couldn't make a career out of just those things, of course. I doubt the exams/vote counting thing would ever come off, because of the hours needed. Interviewer would only be feasible if I did nothing else except that and the counselling - the links Martin gives describe a commitment of about 20 hours a week. Same with the virtual assistant - which is probably better paid and something I *know* I'd be good at, as I've done the job face to face several times before, and I have nearly all the new computer skills needed.
The NVQ person is a good idea. There are now 2.65M "unemployed" people in this country now, with 10.8M "economically inactive" - plenty for you to get your teeth into.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Congratulations KC it doesn't matter how it happens the fact is you are debt free and that opens up even more possibilities for you I am so pleased and a second viewing on the house :j:j:j
Don't think you can stop posting just because you are debt free though we still want to [STRIKE] be nosey[/STRIKE] support you in your future plans :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks DT! I certainly won't be stopping posting - while I sort out my new career (I still favour becoming a millionaire by spreadbetting, by the way) I'll need every lightspeed survey and matched bet I can find.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Perhaps you need to sit down and work out what is an economic amount of time, and whether you can work that way. The more research you put into it, the less problems you'll have. Or as Sun Tsu said: The more we sweat in peace, the less we bleed in war.Erm, shall I say your doubt about the green argument
The "green" argument is multi-facetted. Some of the "don't waste stuff" ideas were common currency during the 1930's, 1950's, 1970's etc without having a label other than "don't waste stuff". Other "concepts" are slammed under the "green" banner so that people will adhere to them in the name of solidarity. Despite violating the known laws of physics (and mathematics) in a way Scotty would not have approved of...Anyway, so many green websites are about daffy gift ideas, or ideas, or using less. I'd be aiming towards people doing house renovations. I'd be the Martin Lewis of the green movement

Burlesque Babe does the exam invigilating thing - try asking her.
I think Butti also does the vote counting thing too.you're right. However, two problems round here - there are an astonishing number of people who are already qualified to assess NVQs round here - and I'm not, and I'd have to pay out at least around £1k to get trained. And its a "sensible" job - not one I know I'd like, just sensible, given who I am and what I can offer, not one I feel I'd love.
Sometimes we all have to sit down and get a real job. It's that old "Work to live, or live to work" thing. I certainly work to live, despite it being an interesting job which I'm very good at with a lot of autonomy.
Never thought of becoming a "lady gas fitter" or some other kind of trade like that? It is a niche market, but does help the feelings of security of the single women out there."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

A real job? Not sure what that is in this context. That phrase harks back to the 1950s and 60s for me - you know, get thee to the coal face type thing. NVQ assessment isn't like that at all. Its self employed, from what I've seen, bid for on a contract to contract basis. The friend who does it would find it impossible to do without her car - she has to be at so many places to observe the NVQ conditions being filled, and submit reports and so on. I don't have a car. That job would cost me about £4000 before I ever started it. And all that for no guarantee of an income from it (hmm, I've never put it to myself like that before).
A lady gas fitter - oh how many times have I thought about something like that! 20 years ago, I should've retrained as a rocket scientist. Nowadays, I couldn't possibly do anything practical like that - the arthritis in my fingers says No No No No No.....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Wow- well done on being debt free KC
A great achievement considering everything you have been through in the last couple of years.
I am not sure what i see you doing as a second career to be honest with you. I think a research assistant would be ideal, if you manage to get attached to UNI..or is that my ideal job? Surrounded by books all day and just looking up things..*sigh* Good luck with it all. xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Ooh, a research assistant! I'd absolutely love that.
And Bob, how nice to see you! I was quoting you as a long lost friend just on Thursday or Friday of this week. How are you?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

That's basically it - a job that pays the bills, not a job that you'd do for free.NVQ assessment isn't like that at all. Its self employed, from what I've seen, bid for on a contract to contract basis. So that's knocked that on the head.A lady gas fitter - oh how many times have I thought about something like that! 20 years ago, I should've retrained as a rocket scientist. Nowadays, I couldn't possibly do anything practical like that - the arthritis in my fingers says No No No No No.....
Every job you do will involve the use of your fingers. A gas fitter is probably easier than typing for a living, in that it does not require fine motor skill. It also does not require much physical strength (I'm suggesting repairing boilers, not installing them). It does require (from personal recollection) the ability to use a hoover, a screwdriver, a spanner and a manometer."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Get's the impression Z likes to use his fingers quite a bit, alongside a hoover:eek:
I am sure i have seen that on a website somewhere:D:rotfl::rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
