I am impressed at how old some of the stuff is..WOW...great that you can sell the programmes and keep important bits but you have kept so much stuff...
I am amazed at the amount of decluttering you are getting done in order to start your new life.0 -
So the list for today, at any rate, is this:
- sort my doorbell - the ringer has stopped ringing, I've recharged the batteries, but there's a glitch, obviously its kind of crucial!
- junk from the patio, and the recycling, down into the garage - part of my clearing up, part of making the place look better for the weekend.
- check out about going up north for the weekend - might be doing that next weekend, since I didn't go up for Christmas.
- carry on sorting the 2nd bedroom, all those papers I've just been chucking in there. There are *so* many piles of papers in this house!
Hi been lurking a bit on diaries and found yours so thought I'd pop in and say hello.
Do you want to do my list? It starts with - sort out cupboard under stairs to use as larder - and never gets any further.
Papers all go in several boxes to be 'sorted later' - I really must sort them out.
Good luck with your plans, you seem to be on a bit of a roll.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Your decluttering is going so well - good on you! I keep theatre and concert programmes too - I have some which I will probably get around to eBaying eventually as they're just sitting there at the moment and that is a shame when someone else would appreciate them - and, more importantly, pay money for them! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi KC cant believe how much like me you sound. I have genealogy stuff just about everywhere, and looking round this office I have 4 boxes of stuff (not looked in there yet) loads of pic frames some with pics in them more books and video's (dont know if they will even play) havent got a vc up and working so I have no way of finding out. But its mostly genealogy stuff, I do try to be organised then I have an afternoon on ancestry and there are bits of stuff everywhere, most of which I have found before and there is probably a piece of paper relating to it somewhere else in a folder (does that sound familiar):rotfl:

Thats what I've done for the past 10 years in this house, which is why its in such a state now :rotfl:

Yep, I *was* - got hit by the steamroller that is my work in London - still haven't thrown off this blinking virus, I'm almost too tired to make a cup of tea, and I've abandoned going to my Egyptology this afternoon, I'm not up to travelling anywhere. A longtime friend from London just phoned, I'm going to meet up with her next week if I can, and thrash this out with a supportive but analytic ear.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Absolutely, on the dosh! :rotfl: I just found another box of old science fiction stuff under the bed in the 2nd bedroom - I'm not bringing it into the living room, as I'm too tired to do any listing at the mo, but there's a bit more stuff that I can list on Amazon, tho whether it will sell is another matter, and some more to put by for ebay. If I just hadn't bought the stuff in the first place :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thanks! Tell me what you're going to do, I dare you :rotfl:
My genealogy mess is made a bit worse by two things - my mum insists on writing stuff about different branches of the family on the same piece of paper, and I've been doing it for so long - there are about three starts in there at re-cataloguing, and many more at writing out family trees. The bulk of it is on the computer now - but I don't know *which* bits  so when I start on the genealogy itself again, I'll have to start by checking every piece of paper I've got :eek::eek:
My matrilineal line goes back to Ireland - a girl called Mary, who married a soldier called James, and followed him throughout his postings in the Napoleonic Wars, living in occupied France until 1819, which is why my 4 x great grandmother was born in Northern France! I love that. When I'm debt free, I just have to come over to Ireland - Mary and James Lappin in County Meath, and Patrick O'Connor in Dublin - and yes, I *know* how likely it is I'll ever trace him, though one of the less careful researchers in the family thinks she's found him.....

My Mum is useless when it comes to family stuff as she spent most of her childhood in hospital, and so didn't get to do all the family stuff that most do. Unfortunately like most scousers, my mother's grandparents both came over from Ireland so the chances of finding anything are slim to none. I would really love to give it a proper go, but started on family tree for the current generation, with the help of 2 aunties, and gave up after 50 first cousins!Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Sorry to hijack a bit, but read a post about the newspapers under your nan's floor. When Dad died and the house was sold, we found papers in the loft belonging to the builder who built the original houses, which started round about 1935. Some were costing for the build etc. and had comments about not being able to get skilled workers and that Germany didn't have that problem.
We gave them to the Central Library Archive as they weren't personal to us.
Oh yes, and Dad had kept ALL our school books, revision notes etc. I know who I get my hoarding instincts from.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
