OS Daily Thread - Thursday 10th September

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 10th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all
raggydoll, it's good to have you with us.
Maitane - You can use sausages to make a nice casserole or skin them and use them like sausage meat. I have made THESE with skinned sausages before.
Celyn - That cake yesterday was really amazing
Tru - your guinea pigs looked so cute stealing your runner beans!
Haribo - Glad you sorted out your sad stalker.
Sunny - You can see how many read the thread on the forums page where it tells you who posted last on each thread. Next to it is a box with how many 'views' it has had. Yesterdays thread had 462 views but just 64 posts.
Halight - Hope you feel better soon honey
Helyg - I have a YC blueberry scone burning in the lounge right now
Patentgirl -
congrats to your daughter hon and welcome to baby Oliver.
Jayward - coincidentally I ended up crying at the hospital yesterday and I never cry in public..:o It's just so frustrating at times when they don't appear to be listening. Big
for you honey.
I enjoyed Nigel Slaters simple suppers last night on TV, nothing too stretching, but he is a lovely guy to watch and it was just about him and the food and how easy it is to put things together with no 'religious' recipes to follow. And the food looked delicious of course!
Had both my first order from Approved foods arrive yesterday plus my Tescos order so my house feels stuffed full of food! The freezer certainly can't take any more as my OH also popped into Morrisons and picked up more reduced deli meat pies at 60p for four, so they are now frozen.
OK, well WM and BM are on and I have mailed my friend in London who is going in for her lumpectomy on the 11th. I have been mailing her every day just to help keep her distracted. All I need now is for Tris to log on. He hasn't been on for a few days.
Hope you all have a good day, I plan to make corned beef pasties today to have for dinner. Warm gentle
for anyone who wants one!

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Morning. WE are going to the World Cup
.
At last England have qualified easily and not scraped in last minute.
My adopted country Ivory Coast will also be there... so should be a good one.
Woke up early, to much pizza and milk shake last night. Had a great days sailing dinghys in Plymouth, did not win, but got some sunshine and enjoyment. First day of summer I think fior me!
Work today and then long weekend off.
Hope everyone has a great day
Cheers SteveNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
DS up at crack of dawnGood job I had a sensible night and was asleep before half ten. Still can't say I feel any better for it :rotfl:
Had a lovely lunch in Brum with H and the kids. We sat in pigeon park (for those of you that know Brum it was the grass beside St Philips Cathedral) and DD decided to walk between the two of us several times :T:T:T
So H has finally seen his little girl walk and she seemed to really gain in confidence. She's not keen on walking on concrete or our laminate but on grass she seems happy to try. Ironic since the grass is more uneven but what she's done is enough for me for now!!!
Not much else going on today. Going to friends this morning and no doubt will pop and see my mum later.
Am currently lusting after a Remoska having read some of the Remoska thread. Bit pricy though (as I want a grand) so think I shall have to save some pennies first before getting one
Anyway hugs to those that need them.

Bit chilly here in Essex, such a change from Monday. Today am in the office for a little while then hope to get out & tackle the ironing mountain.
Need to go to the butchers today as forgot was early closing yesterday:o
Loadsa leftover new pots from last night so could be fry up with those tonight - will get some lovely bacon from the butchers, cant stomach packet stuff anymore. Also will make a loaf of bread - have got out of the routine of that lately.
Nothing else to say so I shall be off, have a great day.x0 -
Morning all:j
Been MIA for a few days - it's a shock to the system getting back into the swing of school hours:rolleyes:
Anyway, good news - after a couple of days of [STRIKE]haggling[/STRIKE] negotiating, I have had my offer accepted on the cottage:j I am so excited. Will not believe it until I hold the keys in my hand though, given the events of the past six months on the house buying front! I finally have a range cooker and a woodburner! The springy spangles can just go out of the back gate into fields and woodland!
DD back to school yesterday - tired this morning though:rotfl:
A glorious start to the morning here - bit fresh sitting in the garden with my coffee though! Got a WM load to dry before leaving this morning. Already got the mince out to defrost. (Ordered the Econ Gast. book from 'the book man' - £6:T)
Have a good day all:j

Morning all,
Another bright beautiful day here :T, off to work again though .
Just4peton, awww a new fur baby, how lovely, I am sure they will learn to get along soon.
I need to have a general tidy round this morning, OH is still in bed, as he is working in someones home today, and they dont want the builders in before 8.30, so he gets a bit of a lay in, he is normally away from the house just after 7.
Something with chips for tea, I think it may be burgers, will go and rummage in a a while.
There is a chill in the air in the mornings and evenings, but the days are set to be nice for quite a while yet :T
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Hi all. Congratulations, Lillibet - I can feel your excitement coming through the screen!
N9eav - it was a great match, wasn't it? A well-deserved win and it's fantastic that we have secured our place in the World Cup.
MSD - it's horrible when you feel that hospital staff just aren't listening. (((Hugs))) to you. I forgot that Nigel Slater was on last night and here, in France, I can't get catch-up TV.
Well, breakfast needs to be cleared up, I have some baking to do, the WM is on with the first load, I have a few chores to do, and must also go and fill the car later this morning. I want to make a bread-and-butter pudding to have with creme fraiche later for pudding. Dinner tonight is lamb casserole left over from Tuesday, with chips - a real favourite with us.
I hear that the UK has settled weather for the next few days, so I hope you all get it and that it lasts for a long time. It's lovely here already; the sun is up and burning off the light clouds so a good day to be out in the garden. I have to find the perfect place to plant the hibiscus plant I had as a birthday present.
Anyway, kettle calls; see you all later.

Morning Everyone
Not posted for a few days but have read the thread.Does that make me a stalker?:o:D
Kids and I are all firmly back in the school routine and am slowly getting used to the 5am starts. But did imbibe a little too freely of the voddie last night so feeling a tad delicate this morning:o.WM has been on and finished so I need to peg that out after my shower.I've done the ironing and fed the kids bacon butties for their brekky.Lunchboxes are packed and ready to go and the washing up from brekkie is done.I've consumed three cups of tea already and am beginning to wonder is it really only 7.30am:rotfl:
OH is not working for the next six days so will be out and about enjoying the lovely weather. My youngest starts school on Monday so we're enjoying his last few days of freedom
I've got a shoulder of lamb in the fridge from the recent Tesco offer so will probably cook that for tea with veg and mint sauce.I saw EG last night and they had a great recipe for leftover lamb so will make that with the remains tomorrow
I hope everyone is feeling happy and healthy this morning but if not (((((((hugs)))))) to everyone who needs one

Morning all, Just got back from driving down in convoy to drop DH's van off for MOT so fingers crossed its not to pricey as mine is due towards the end of the month as well as the phone bill, DH's car tax & tv licence! September is never a good month! There was a realy chill in the air this morning. Felt lovely and Autumny
Just going to have a bit of brekkie and browse on here then tasks for the day are clean one living rm window inside, hoover round everywhere, do online weekly shop, general light tidy round and then this aft i am giving a friend a riding lesson on one of my horses. She's had a few now and is doing really well! Also got usual chores with the many animals!! Am under strict instructions from hubby not to do too much today as i keep feeling really achey at the end of the day.
Think i'll do bangers and mash for dinner later and mmmmm beans and cheese on toast for lunch for me!
Hope everyone has a lovely day0 -
Morning all
Another lovely day here.
Have not read back on yest post yet but ((((Hugs)))) to anyone who needs or wants them.
Had a VERY boring day yest, just sitting in a room waiting to see if we were called to a jury and we weren't. It wouldn't be so bad if there was any fresh air in the room but there is only one window and it doesn't open, so we could just about see the nice weather but not enjoy it. I don't think I have ever yawned so much in my life, once one person started we were all at it for what seemed hours. Oh well there again today, fingers crossed that I get picked for a trial!;)
Heard from the hospital yest too, my op has been postponed as seemingly I have sleep apnea and they will have to trial me with a mask before the anaesthetic would be safe:eek: Really cheesed off but at least it has spurred me on with my diet to see if loosing some weight might help things. So salad and fruit packed up to take with me today and prawn salad for tea tonight.
Right off to do some housework before I set off (after catching up with yest thread) - have a good day all"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

Morning guys - hugs to all that need/want them.
Day off for me today and I will be spending some time on the Chorebuster.net site that was mentioned a few days back. Why do most men not see things that need doing before their eyes!!! Got back from work at 9pm to find no washing up done, no clothes hung out, no clothes brought in, nothing! And to top it all off, someone had shoved the the mop bucket in the cupboard and the iron's plug had fallen in the water!!! Grrrrr!! Told OH and asked him to sort out a new plug so I could iron HIS shirts for work - and not even that was done!! And then he toddles of to his bed 10 mins after I got in!!
Cannot wait till I'm on dayshifts again!
So today - WMx2, will wash up once kids at school, I need to go through all the cupboards, freezer and fridge to make a full inventory and then meal plan accordingly. I want to spend as little as possible on food this month.
Booked DS's party yesterday at the local Wacky Warehouse - so he has invites to take into school today and DD is on afternoon at school today and tomorrow and then full time next week!! (Yayayayayaya!!) hehe!
Well, must make sure they are cleaning teeth etc.
Bye for now
