I placed the only bid on a top last night and paid immediately by paypal, total £3.99. I got an e-mail this afternoon to say the seller had refused the payment. I have e-mailed her and as yet had no reply. Anyone else had this happen? I didn't realise sellers could do this! If I don't hear from her, what do I do? thanks

Did you fund your payment with your credit card? If so, the seller would have to upgrade their account in order to accept that payment - if they didn't want to they might refuse to accept the payment.0

jenniferpa is probably right.
Did the seller have the PayPal logo on his/her auction. If so, then they do have to accept PayPal payments funded by a credit card.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

The listing says paypal preferred. She has 100 per cent feedback on 119 transactions. My payment was funded through our debit card. At least if she contacted me I would know what the problem was. I would send a cheque or PO. Just not come across this before!0

As she is advertising paypal then you are entitled to use it, don't pay by any other means just insist that you want to use paypal as per her listing. With that much feedback she must realise she has to accept paypal if she stated she would. Also, she must be around if your payment has been refused as she would have needed to refuse it. If it was just sitting in her account waiting to be accepted it would show as uncollected.

thanks soolin. I have e-mailed her again today. Checked her feedback, she is still getting it from buyers but she hasn't left any since 1st may. Like you say, if she was around to refuse the payment, she could have sent me an e-mail explaining the reason. I have had probs with paypal before so I am quite understanding.
What do I do if I don't hear from her, other than through feedback channels. I0 -
Hi Bargain Addict
I accidently blocked my first sell when I did something to receive the payment but then sent my buyer an invoice again (and email explaining why I had blocked his original payment and sending him an invoice again) and gladly he still wanted to purchase, but as you say this is not a newbie to ebay so don't know what the error could be.

Perhaps her receiving limit has been reached? Mind you, I don't think that triggers an auto refusal either.0

I didn't realise there was a receiving limit! Still not heard from her. how long do I leve it before doing whatever on ebay?0

Hi, she has just e-mailed me. She says she can't accpet payments on a credit card because she does not want to upgrade her account to a premier one. I paid by debit card, don't know if that makes a difference? What is the difference with upgrading to a premier account, it was so long ago I did it, I can't remember. Does it cost her. She must have had this roblem before surely with a feedback of 120+! She also said her computer had been playing up all weekend but I won the top Thursday and she refused payment on friday so could have e-mailed at the same time, surely.
She said I can pay by cheque or well concealed cash. I'm not sure I even want the top now, can i back out or what. All advice appreciated.0 -
yes,
premier accounts cost money for the seller!
as for backing out, thats your decision, ASK NICE like, and say, sorry, i cant NOT pay with credit card, can we both not do the sale
simple really
of course, you could stop being slightly awkward and just load your paypal account with money, then pay the person with your paypal balance..........only as its such a small amount of coursemoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)
