My family too have experienced the "customer services" of ITC. Like others we signed up to ITC as they were supposed to the the stress free option!

I have today written to the BBC to see if their upcoming BBC2 series, Legacy, or indeed another BBC programme can investigate ITC. Maybe an expose is just what is needed for this organisation. I have sent a link to this website so that they can see the frustration and misery that this organisation are causing us.

Thank you for bringing this BBC programme to our attention. As portlandboy says, sorry that you too have had to join the ranks of the mislead. I will also look into this Legacy programme as I'm sure they would be interested.

Cross reference to the problems of ITC passing themselves off as "Barclays" to the recently bereaved.

Oh my goodness. WE HAVE TO STOP ITC. A friend of mine has closed her account at Barclays due to their 'behaviour' Maybe more people should as a protest for allowing this bank to refer unaware clients into the net of ITC.
  • Hi All,

I campaign for improved and extended information to be delivered to bereaved people at the outset of learning of a death at evansaboveonline.co.uk

I have taken a specific interest into the activity of the Bereavement Advice Centre (BAC) that claims to be a not for profit organisation and is paid for by ITC Legal Services. The BAC also has connections with the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).

The NAFD supports the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Funerals and Bereavement. Members of this group are all MPs from a cross party selection, some of whom are members of many other APPGs.
The NAFD promotes on its website to ‘solicit’ the support of MPs for lobbying purposes.

The BAC was established in the House of Commons in 2007 and claims that it is supported by the NAFD and ITC Legal Services until it establishes charitable status.

I am appealing to the regulators at the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BIS) to establish an interest in the activity of the BAC, its connections to ITC Legal Services and the NAFD.

I wish to hear from people who have sought advice from the BAC and felt encouraged or pointed to ITC Legal Services. For those that are willing to submit evidence of any bad experience with either the ITC or the NAFD, I would welcome your communication to support my communication with BIS.

Should you care to contact me could you email me at goodevans06(at)aol.com please omit the (at) and replace with an @ when writing to me.

    Hi Teresa,
Have you had any dealings with John Mc Fall MP - he seemed to be taking an interest in the financial treatment of the 2, 000 people a day who die in the UK, so I wrote to him on their behalf but did not get a response.

    Best wishes.

    John

PS I've read you website - more power to your elbow (or your keyboard)

  • To angrygirlie and portland boy, I haven't had any response from Legacy programme as yet, but as it has been Easter maybe that is the reason. I am hoping if it is not something they are interested in - although I think they should be even if to warn people, then I am hoping they will either forward to somebody else within the BBC who maybe interested.

The more people that contact the legacy programme the better. I found them on BBC website/beonashow.

I'm just about to join the facebook group and will take a look at Theresa Evans website.

Thank you Teresa. You will definately be hearing from me with some 'shocking' information. The BIS were on my list to be informed, but I will give you the information as you have started the appeals to the regulators
  • No news is good news so they say, and I know this forum has been quiet for a few weeks but there will be some interesting information on itc very soon so watch this space!!!!!!!!!!

Hi and thanks for everyone's comments on ITC practices.

My father passed away last month (April) and like others I was 'guided' towards ITC by funeral service booklets etc and received a home visit where I handed over a number of documents and certificates. The only communications I have received have been the request to complete the power of attorney form along with additional certificates. Having read through this post, I am now considering cancelling BEFORE I hand over that power and either going through a solicitor or going for probate myself. I am concerned though about how long they'll take in sending back the documents they have (from the intial home visit) and what they think they can charge for just receiving the documents. Like everyone else, I just want to get on with the process and have some time to grieve without this anxiety!

Funny thing is, at the home visit, the sales guy asked 'So what's important to you?" I replied.. "Above all else, that this is handled professionally and efficiently and with respect!"
