So would i need a bigger chimenea?

MY OH wanted a chimnea last year, he's a bit of a fire bug though and likes to set things alight (you should see him on bommy night for gods sake!) so that's why he wanted one.. he'd never buy a gas one in a million years.. I personally think the chimneas are more romantic and may let him have one this year.. what prices have you seen them going for if you don't mind me asking.?

Diamonds I've been looking at chimneas too. I am like your fella I would like a big fire pit but I suppose I should settle with a chimnea :)

I have been looking on ebay, there seem to be some nice ones for around £60. My friends have one it is a nice feature whether it is in use or not. I think these gas heaters are ugly ;)

Thanks Bad, I hadn't looked on Ebay as I thought the postage costs would be outrageous but they look alright.. they were about £90 for a smallish one in B&Q lastyear as far as I can remember.

I like the idea of it being a heater and a BBQ rolled into one don't you?

I have been watching them for ages now! Ive seen them go for as little as £30 but as much as £50 for the same chimenea. The ones i am looking at are about 85cm tall but come with a cover and a swing out grill to do a bit a bbqing on. I am also a bit of a fire freak!! I agee about the gas heaters they are a bit ugly and at least you can burn anything in the chimenea.

    My "secret" is an education.

An education that has taught me that 600 years ago, it was possible to grow grapes naturally at this longtitude and latitude of the planet. Now, do you think you could grow grapes naturally in the UK in 2006?

    No you couldn't.

I think you'll find that, far from warming up, the planet is actually cooling down.

Apologies that this is off topic... But WHAT?!

English wine in Southern England is becoming, by the year, all the more popular and plentiful. Arguably, although not necessarily, due to global warming. Please see here
    and here.

My parents have got a heater, *sigh*. It is a good price according to them but if you feel all the hot air just above it, rising into the sky, overall I can't see how they're good for money saving.

Edit: for my poor vB coding and this handy tip:

Get some of the vintage Nyetimber now and watch its price rocket in years to come -as good as Champagne!

Another case of how a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Try visiting a vineyard here and you will be told that the secret is nothing to do with temperature, but the knowledge of how it was done being lost, and then unsuitable varieties and means of cultivation being brought in from abroad.

I have a couple of vines in my garden. They produce loads of grapes every year with no help at all.

I would have congratulated you on managing to find something that actually suggested that the earth is cooler than it was - but you haven't, I'm afraid.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

I just moved from a nice hot country to the UK. From my perspective the world is certainly a lot colder. Nothing like stoking a good fire eh? :D Now where is that link to those monster patio heaters...might turn it upside down and use as a bbq as well - very environmentally concious - but a bit messy...
