There's a small filling station in Evesham called "Abbey Garage" which last week undercut the local Tesco by around 4p per litre. It is always the cheapest, yet people still fill up at Tesco

One reason people keep filling up at Tesco is to get the clubcard points to get the rewards. Problem is Tesco are not doing the 2 points for £1 on fuel so no point.

I generally go to the shell Garage when we are going to the gym as it is 1p cheaper and the car runs better and further than on Tesco fuel. Tesco also have a monopoly here at the North side of Bracknell as no other petrol station until Ascot or Wokingham. Apart from BP who are dearer anyway.

There's a filling station in Marlborough that has always had outrageously priced fuel. Currently it proudly declares its 'New Low Prices' which are 116.9 for unleaded and 118.9 for diesel. It's always busy, god knows why?
  • This may have been posted elsewhere- apologies- but it's a great site especially if you live in a major city : http://www.petrolprices.com/
up to date petrol prices for your local area - i've now got it as an ap on my iphone too!
  • Filling up at Tesco to get your 5p off is a false economy. They still sell sub-standard fuel. They don't put the cleaning additives in to keep their costs down. Remember a year or two back when they admitted that their fuel was to blame for expensive damage to cars lambda sensors and ECU units? Well now it kills EGR valves. My Astra has had 2 new valves fitted this year whilst using Tesco petrol. Switched to Shell and the problem has gone!

Agreed, some people have very short memories.

I avoid Tesco fuel like the plague.
  • The contaminated fuel? I don't remember it just being Tesco, I'm sure Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys had the exact same issue. Or you talking about something else?

I've used Tesco to fill up for the past few years and never had a problem with any of my cars.
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

It was Tesco, ASDA and Morrisions, but only in the south of England, as although they have different suppliers all the (contaminated) fuel came from the same joint storage facility (i.e. one big tank).

Sainsbury get their fuel from a different supplier that stores their fuel elsewhere.

Apart from everything else, my local Tesco actually charges more per litre of fuel than my village garage.

    Every little bit helps Tesco.
