Tesco Fuel Gripe

Why does Tesco raise its fuel prices when they have a 5p off voucher promotion? Is it legal? The 5p off becomes about 1p or 2p off in practice. At the very least its a con!

Poor customer service too, I try to avoiding filling at Tescos.
  • The fuel went up because Darling and Winky put the tax up 2p (again!!)
  • Yeah but saying that, the Asda round the corner from me is on 102.9 and the Tesco which is about a mile away is on 105.9.

Tesco always seem to be the first to put their prices up.. Around here they do anyway!
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Why wouldn't it be legal? Check local prices and go tho the filling station that is cheapest.

If the Tesco 5p off makes it cheaper then you have decide whether you want to shop their and spend the minimum required to get the voucher.

The could raise prices by 50p if they wanted too and then offer you a voucher for 55p. They can charge what they like.

    You may find this helpful:

I get a weekly email from petrolprices.com listing my 5 cheapest fuel stations closest to home, and 5 closest to work.

Of course it's legal, why wouldn't it be? The full price is paid by anyone without a voucher.

The price has gone up at Tesco and every other petrol station.

Where's the con? They advertise clearly what the full price is, you can easily take 5p off of that price and compare it with anywhere else that you might be able to buy petrol from.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
  • I find that my car always seems to drink petrol from Tescos!

I can usually get about 500 miles off a full tank (about between 45 and 55 mpg) but on Tescos its no where near that.

Its probably just me but it is strange

Whatcha grumbling at? When I started motoring, as opposed to 'driving', petrol was 4 bob a gallon (20p), repeat GALLON, ie 4.55 Lts. When it went up in a budget to 4/3d (21p) I saw scuffles in a very long queue at the local petrol station. Those were the days, mind you I was only earning 6 quid a week. I worked it out the other day that I can buy exactly the same amount of petrol, £ for £, on my pension as I used to all those years ago. All donations will be gratefully received.
