Oh, and a job for this afternoon.. We've been given two huge bags of baby boy clothes from OH's cousin so I'm going to open and sort through them later. She said she's bagged it up as one bag of Next and designer bits and one of supermarket bits - she was intending to eBay the first one, but in the end didn't want any money from us but said I was welcome to eBay them myself once we're done with them.. very MSE! ;)

My dad's coming down tonight after work to put a second rail in my wardrobe too so I can start hanging up Rhys' clothes too :)

That did happen to me - sort of!

We'd gone round to my parents for tea and I went into labour. We left for hospital around 7pm and as we were going, my Dad jokingly told me to get a move on as he was planning an early night so didn't want to be up late waiting for a baby news phone call.

James arrived at 9.45pm, so I immediately rang my Dad and told him he could go to bed now. Dad thought I was joking at first :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....
  • My house is a doghole... Aimee has done nothing but whinge all morning... Caitlyn woke up every 90mins throughout the night and the cat just jumped up onto my knee, and put his paw right in the middle of my peice of toast...

I'm going to go have a little cry and see if Caitlyn can be persuaded to have a 4 hour nap...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Anyone know how bad a Child's cough needs to be for a doctor to care IYSWIM? would it have to be constant? What do they do? give them an inhalor?
I don't think Chris needs to go I'm just interested
Hmm, well there isnt much you can do about coughs and coughing is good for you anyway cos it gets rid of the mucus etc.
Aston suffers really bad when he has a cough, throwing up, non stop coughing.
I end up taking him to the docs most times because it is literally non stop coughing, he cant even get a sentence out, and one day was literally coughing continuously for about 4 hours, he ended up on the oxygen at the surgery.
A good thing for coughs is to steam him lol
JUst run a hot bath and sit in the bathroom with all windows and the door shut for about 20 mins or so.

Am I right in thinking your baby would be about five months old at that stage? If so, how are you feeding her/how do you expect to be feeding her at that point? If you're still breastfeeding at that point, I would think it would be fairly difficult as you would potentially be leaving her for 24 hours and you wouldn't exactly have opportunities to express so would become rather painful over that length of time.

That's a good point. I've been fairly good at expressing on top of feeding, so at the moment we have a freezer stash of about 1 litre (which will be sadly depleted this weekend as I'm on visitor duty and have to go places without the monster). We'd definitely have enough frozen milk for 24 hours, and she's ok with being left with Papa, but expressing in the hospital might be a problem. Germany's pro-breast, so they wouldn't mind, but finding the time to do it might be difficult. Hmm. Thank you.
SS i was my sisters birthing partner (as well as my BIL) but she was there for the birth of zoe as well ...... its was just the rule we had with each other .... i just sat with her, got her anything she wanted and let her squish my hand as hard she wanted ... im not sure how it would work if you have work but if you tell them exactly whats happening im sure they'd be ok with it x

That's lovely - she'd be giving birth at the hospital where I work, so I could technically be at work :rotfl:

I think the thing she really wants is someone to speak German to the midwives/doctors and translate. I learned all the relevant vocabulary and in the end was in too much pain to use it myself, so I can see how a translator would be incredibly beneficial.

I'd love to be someones birth partner - to see it from the other side so to speak! :D

Could you just have a plan in place if you should need to go early hours or during the day! Maybe warn work (& OH's work) that you may need to take a days leave at short notice. Then you can go and be the birth partner, and OH can be there for your monster?

Or tell your friend that you will be her birth partner, but only if she goes into labour at 7pm, and has the baby in her arms by 10pm on a certain date. :rotfl:

The weirdest thing is that I've been vaguely considering a career change and even more vaguely considering becoming a doula. So it would be a good thing for me, so long as it didn't impact the monster too much.

    Becles, that's a wonderful birth story ;)

Thanks everyone - something to think about there. I suspect that when it comes down to it she might decide she wants her partner with her, but she's already planning the birthing classes so we'll see what happens.

Oh dear, make a brew and puy your feet up! My morning has been just as eventful - Anybody know where I put my glasses? Had to put contacts in as soon as I got up this morning, hate doing that. I cant find them anywhere nor can I remember the 'safe' place I hid my spares. I really am hopeless :o

OH chnaged Lexi before heading off this morning and I have just gone to change a stinky one and Oh My Word, there was poop everywhere but inside the actual nappy, I kid you not! What on earth did he do with the nappy? It was honestly clean inside.

I cannot get madam to feed, its her blocked nose but shes hungry and tired as she had about 3 hours sleep and I cant get her to go down for more! She wants her dummy but keeps spitting it out in a big strop cos she cant breathe through her nose! Should I try feeding her milk with a syringe or something??? Im really worried she hasnt had enough in the last 24 hours....

I promised OH and Joshua some Gingerbread for later.....I wonder how that will turn out! :rotfl:

zoe 7 in dec and you lot are really only parent friends i have im ok just not much to say x
TBH I only have 2 'proper' parent friends, and one of them is my friend by default because she is my neighbour! The one with twins, 2 days older than my Ry-Ry, then my other one is my oldest and bestest ever friend but lives 1/2 hour drive away so we only talk on the phone, her daughter was born 6 days after Ry-Ry.
Other than that I just spend all me time with this children and OH
