Tia - I just love a bit of research i think, and I like to have an idea of what i'm doing, the concept of just winging it terrifies me! The baby whisperer has made me a lot more confident to go with my instincts i think, and it helps me have something to fall back on when it all seems to be going t*ts up!

Oh don't get me wrong, someone could ask me something like 'oh my child has been sick and has a temp, what should I do?' and I'd say get them to a doctor or NHS24, yet when it's my child I will flaff about not knowing what to do and end up looking online for advice, that usually leads to calling NHS24! :rotfl:

:T:T:T and thats what makes a great mum!
a lot of the books are written by people who dont have children and as every baby is different obviously it wont work for every child! i have a different way for each of my children i know what to do to stop them crying and how to get them to behave (remember the stare your mum used to do lol:o)

I remember that stare... and the psychic knowledge she had when I cussed her under my breath...

You will all be glad to hear that Amber finished her poop, has been changed and now is sleeping all swaddled up in her fleece blanket and the titty in her mouth (titty would be a dummy). Oh no, tell a lie, arms are up and she's awake, now a fist is in the mouth rather than the titty....

No. She spits them out. Just refuses to have them. She sometimes pulls our finger out of her mouth too.

Skinty- We were on 2 hour feeds only 2 weeks ago, i realised he could go longer between feeds and started working on upping the time between them by maybe a few mins at a time by any means necessary, lots of distraction techniques!! If you want to catch up for coffee i can talk you through what we did? Not that it's by any means gospel but sometimes it just helps to be able to have a moan, i was getting very upset with the every 2 hour feeds, it was exhausting...

Coffee would be great - cos I AM exhausted! Lilia just gets so upset when she wants something and it's not forthcoming.

Anyway, off to bed now - apparently she's been asleep for 45 mins but OH has only just come down to tell me and he is off to bed now. I could have gone to bed 45 mins ago if he'd said! Grrr.

I try not to be in the room when she goes down cos she wakes and demands food if she smells me. Talking of which I have no idea when she last fed so it could be a only short while before the next feed now.

  • Skint- Which dummies did you try? I tried a few before finding the only ones he'll take, he'd spit most out and make a face like i was poisoning him when i put them in his mouth but the tommee tippee cherry dummies he was much happier with.

I have no idea what all these techniques are, attachment, gina, CIO etc etc. I've just made it up as I go along.
This is what Sami calls Instinct Parenting ;)
Do what feels right and what gets the required result regardless of what others think :D

:eek::eek::eek:We had a BIG scare here earlier!! Got back from MILs went to go up stairs, Chris was about 3 steps ahead of me when I spotted the biggest spid EVER on the middle stair_pale_ it's span was bigger than my hand and at first Chris thought it was a crab  I nearly pooped my pants and Chris burst into tears and once OH had squished the thing Chris was
shouting "it scared my mummy!" :A
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
