    Hi

Just wanted to let everyone know that these free rooms are still available. It takes some trawling through sites to find an exact match cheaper, but I've just been notified that I've got another free night, this time at London North for Thurs 25th May. The Days Inn site quoted £67.50 and https://www.ratestogo.com quoted £60 for a standard double room, no breakfast on either site. I think it's really important to make sure the deal offered is exactly the same. This is the second room I've got now with no hassle.

    Good luck everyone

I tried it with a hotel in Dublin and go no end of hassle from them. I've given up and will cancel my original booking. I will avoid this company in future.

I had no end of hassle and my friend got her claim turned down as the currencies were different, GBP and pound sterling??? She emailed them and queried this, but had no reply.

We are both going to ABTA, we dont want the free room, but the site is totally misleading and they turn you down for anything, the different currencies has got to be the biggest joke ever!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I have now booked a room at Travelodge, Docklands, £26!! It isnt free, but looks of a good standard, it was that or the Victoria Park Plaza, executive room, free beer etc etc for only £164 plus taxes!! they too guarantee their prices, or they match and discount by 25% However, my deal although admittedley cheaper, the cancellation terms were stricter!! You had to cancel 24 hrs before, Park Plaza allow you to cancel up to 1 or 2 hrs before and therefore wouldn't honour their promise either. Now that was a shame that was a nice hotel!!!

Never mind. I have 2 nights for just £52 and I am going to see Little Britain!!

And what I didn't spend on hotels we will spend on great restaurants!!

I have managed to find a cheaper site for the London Waterloo hotel:

try https://www.holidayextras.co.uk, then got to London hotels

It seems to work, it comes up £99 instead of £109, just hope they honour it. Has anyone else tried it?

I've found a cheaper rate at a hotel for 2nd June. However I need two rooms.

Will I get a free night per room or is it only one free night per booking does anyone know?

    Many thanks

I have had so much hassle!!! I don't care about the free room, but know way am I going to let them get away with their misleading adverts. I shall inform ABTA about my experience and how they mislead people.

They lead us to believe that they are so confident about their prices being the cheapest that they will give you the first night free if you find it cheaper elsewhere. However, now people are aware of the guarantee and questioning it, they are using allsorts of methods to get out of it:

Its a Ramada, same wording, even bookable on the same site, its the same wording but they interpret it differently.

Different currency, eg GBP and Pound Sterling??

You get a breakfast too!! Making your deal even better, but DIFFERENT!!

Your quote is in pounds, they can't confirm that the exchange rate used was the same!!!

This company is huge and I mean huge!!! They own allsorts. Just look up Cendant!!

They are misleading the public and we need to approach ABTA and show them that just cos they are big doesn't mean they can walk all over the little people!!

Please if you have experienced misleading info from this co report it to ABTA!!

Its about time we stook up for ourselves!!

These people know that there is nothing we can do, if they say no, what can we do, well lets show them!!!

I managed to get two free nights at different Days Inn hotels last October under this offer. Only had to wait a couple of hours each time for the confirmation. Absolutely no problems with getting them.

Booked a room and immediately submitted a claim. I did this on a Friday and they seemed to be shut over the weekend. Monday I phoned them and was told they hadn’t received the claim and that I should reclaim. I checked the cheaper site, and they were all out. So I thought it was a con! I claimed again knowing that I had saved a PDF of the original cheaper quote. Within a few hours I recived the ‘thumbs up’ from the original claim!

I stayed at the Day’s Inn at London Waterloo on Saturday night. It’s directly opposite a police station and pretty close to the tube.

Was welcomed by a friendly receptionist. Room was average size and nicely decorated, good shower (no bath).

As we were tired, we went to bed before going out for our evening frolics. Just after I fell asleep the duty manager phoned to ask, “How much I was expecting the room to cost”. I replied ‘nothing’ which lead him to ask “why?”. Although he was friendly, I found it rather unprofessional considering he could have asked head office.

Anyway, on checking out I only had to pay £8 (for the bar) and no questions were asked. Definitely good value! :T

Have just booked the Ramada in Edinburgh... lets see if I get it for free. I can't see why they would not honour it... if not, I'll cancel and will just go for the day rather than the weekend. I can't see why they wouldn't, both sites quote in pounds and that. Submitted my claim, here's to hoping! PDF'ed both pages of the cheaper site, the available price and the booking price page. They can't argue out of this one!
