Hi,have read most of the threads, but still worried.Got a ticket today in sainsburys for parking in child bay, with no children. How do they know I didnt have my children with me?? It is Euro car parks and is for £50.Should I pay or ignore?? Thanks in advance for any help. I only parked in it because I had my Elderly mum with me and there is more room to open doors.

Yes exactly, I'm just in a silly mood tonight
Don't worry about it. 0 -
Basically she means just ignore this and any subsequent free loo paper (bit stiff but if you like it) a better idea would be to file it away and just keep adding to the pile.

They will not take you to court, they can't affect your credit rating and a mere debt collector is really quite helpless.
Anyway your Mum had her children with her.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Parent & Child bays have no legal standing whatsoever, they are only there as a courtesy. As you will have seen from Martin's article, or heard from his Radio 2 slot, these are NOT fines - private companies can't issue fines - it is merely an invoice for alleged breach of civil contract.john1964golf wrote: »Hi,have read most of the threads, but still worried.Got a ticket today in sainsburys for parking in child bay, with no children. How do they know I didnt have my children with me?? Euro Car Parks will send letters threatening to dismember your entire family, kill your cat and get you credit blacklisted for 1,000 years - it's all hogwash designed to scare you into paying up. Ignore everything they send you, there are no known cases of Euro taking anyone to Court.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

Sainsburys' can no more fine you than I can.
Ignore it and ignore the follow ups you receive too.
Do not reply as they will send you more of their toilet paper. You will also get letters of debt collectors and solicitors who, usually, are from a different desk in the same office.
Ignore all of them. Parent and Child spaces, as Bargepole says, have no legal standing. Carry on parking there."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

I love it when they turn up, they live in a world of make believe, I'm sure I saw one in "Lord of the Rings"I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Ignore the ticket and letters etc but,
Technically you didn't break the rules anyways, the vehicle contained a parent and child. They don't define age limits on the child do they?0
