The answer is simple, go over to Ebid, the site is 100 times better than Greedbay and with NO fees :D
I've only ever managed to sell 1 thing on ebid... and I wasn't paid for it.

    So for me it's:

Ebay Non-payers: about 5-10% at most
    Ebid Non-payers: 100%

    Think I'll stick with ebay.

Also, what's with the childish Greebay crap. You get what you pay for, ebay's worth the percentage I pay them for the publicity my items get (currently 02237 visits to one of my 30-day buy it nows, and that's with over 2 days to go. We've sold 48 of that item since it went live, which is probably 48 more sales than ebid would have gotten me).
Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Buyers remorse was one of the many reasons I stopped selling on ebay. Whenever I bid on an item I see it as a contract I pay they ship, even on one drunken night when I bidded and won an auction for a classic mercedes, I still went through with the deal.

    Expensive night out that was.
  • Thanks for all the replies! Many of them have made me laugh!

I can't believe how low some people will go to get out of paying for an item e.g. dead relatives!! Do these people have no conscience!!!!!

Just had this reply from my seller after I escalated to ebay!...................

'Sorry for the late response. I have been on holiday and left the posting of the item to my brother who broke his arm whilst I was away and was not able to send.

I got back today and have immediately paid for a parcel service to collect tomorrow, so you should have later in the week'

Exactly my thought but I guess you have to give people the benefit of the doubt  Plus the item was a bargain.... not that this is the reasoning for my thought! :D

And the rest of the story that babyharry5 (excellent handle btw) mentioned- after the buyer had told the seller that the clothes/equipment weren't required after the baby died was that the buyer continued to bid on baby stuff and leave appropriate feedback.

I've only had one thing go wrong on eBay, when a newbie bid on about 5 of my auctions for DVDs and didn't pay, nor offer any type of excuse. I do hope the 5 strikes she got as a result of that will make her think again!

yes - forgot to add the rest!!
yes I am sure there are times when terrible tragedies happen, but I dont know of many people who would consider contacting ebay sellers as the most important thing to do in the early days of such a tragedy.
But to use that excuse when your child is clearly ok, is pure evil imo

My last one was they had to wait for the funds to come from bank to paypal which takes 10 days, then they wanted my bank details and even wanted to meet me at a service station to pay cash! very dodgy
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

It's not the weird excuses that get to me or the ones who say "I don't want it now". It is the ones who say and do nothing no replies nothing but you can see they are still buying and selling and leaving feedback. Maybe they think they are invisible
  • Here's my favourite one, a guy bought a t-shirt and then e-mailed to say he wanted large (it clearly stated Extra Large in the title and description) - I told him we had no stock of large and he said fine he would like to have it anyway as he really liked the shirt.

And then he didn't pay. And he didn't respond to any e-mails. So after 10 days I opened an unpaid item dispute. He didn't respond to that either.

A week after I successfully closed the dispute I got the following e-mail:
i contacted you upon buying this item has i used the filter for size large .
ujpon buying this item i was then informed it was for xl only and you had no l arge in stock, i told you this was to big .
Now you have a unpaid strike against me.
THIS IS TOTALLYT UNPROFESSIONAL, either remove the strike or I will not only leave appalling feedback but I will also take legal action has I have copies of contact sent to oyurselves re this. If the strike is NOT removed within 24 hours Ishall be contacting ebay ,and then yourselves through my solicitor has this is not only preventing my activity on the site but deflmating my character
I laughed heartily for about half an hour. The feedback never showed up. Funnily enough we never heard from the solicitor...
