Excuses from Non Paying Buyers

"I'm having some problems with my Paypal account..." is the usual one. Funny, in 5 years and 1,000 transactions (buying and selling) I have never had a problem with mine.
Family member in hospital / dead / abducted by aliens is also common - perhaps true sometimes.
They normally pay by e-cheque on day 7. Probably the same people that only pay a red bill and that steal from their bank and then moan when they are charged.0 -
Non paying buyers has increased dramatically on Greedbay since they got rid of the ability for sellers to leave a negative feedback. I have just left the site due to the simple fact they don't give two hoots about their users. But in the last month I had around 15 Non payers. They know they'll get nothing more than a non paying strike so they are more likely not to pay. It just amazes me they bid in the first place.
The strangest excuses I've had are relatives dying, some guy who said he'd been overseas with the army and a Woman who claims she lost her passport and had to spend an extra week on holiday. Although I've heard loads more.
The answer is simple, go over to Ebid, the site is 100 times better than Greedbay and with NO fees0 -

I think it depends on what you sell. I sell mostly stuff which there is a limited but fairly big market. I would barely sell anything on anything other than Ebay. There are a lot of time wasters and people causing your problems on Ebay but with the large number of registered users then this is to be expected. I guess at the end of the day we are all customers of Ebay wether we are buying or selling and if Ebay suspended the account of someone because they changed their mind about buying something the first time it happened there would soon be outrage.0 -
The problem is they have just about taken away ANY protection for genuine sellers. And it's left wide open for sellers to lose money. I think I've been quite lucky as I've not had all that many problems (With regards to losing items and/or money) but know a lot of people who have lost their items and their money one way or another because of the lack of protection for sellers.
You cannot go onto another online shop, order something and then not pay. Yet it's very easy to do on Ebay as they make it very easy now for buyers to do that. Unfortunately it's the genuine sellers who suffer.I think it depends on what you sell. I sell mostly stuff which there is a limited but fairly big market. Normally I would agree with this I have been using ebay for, I think 6years now only as a buyer and never had a problem until last month when I was buying something for my wedding. I usually pay straight away but paypal wouldnt let me sign in, kept saying my password was wrong but then saying I was already logged in. I thought it was my computer so my dad tried his and it was the same.
I emailed the seller and said I was having trouble but would try first thing in the morning and didnt even realise they may have thought I was trying to get out of itguess Im too honest. lol

I had a good one recently, 'sorry my wife has been in a serious accident and will probably be in a wheelchair so doesn't need dresses anymore'. Right, ok...what about the other 20 dresses you've purchased and left feedback for over the last 2 weeks?! I don't know how anyone could say something so horrendous just to avoid a NPB strike...Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

Can't people in wheelchairs wear dresses? You should have replied saying you were an equal opportunities seller and by law cannot discriminate with who your dresses go to so by law you cannot cancel the sale for this reason0 -
It gets better, they've just emailed, 24 hours after the first email despite not bothering to contact me for 13 days post sale, asking me to remove the strike as it's not their fault!! Not their fault that what, their now seriously ill and potentially wheelchair confined wife doesn't want to wear my dress, but will happily wear any one of the other 20 purchased?!
I sent a restrained response wishing her all the best in her recovery and return back to dress wearing but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to remove the strike.Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
The 'my dog/cat walked on my keyboard and bid' always makes me laugh, or the child done it...0

There are some dodgy buyers out there but in my magazine last night, it was about a 6 year old girl who was a wizz kid on the computer. She bid for 4 toys totally £100 and "bought" her mum a new car for £2000!! The girl thought she was doing good by bidding as her mums car was written off and knew they needed a new car. So sometimes when you get "my kid bidded on the item" it may just be true
xx
P.S - magazine was either pick me up, take a break or thats life. I bought 4 and cant remember which one.0/2013
