Congratulations MisterLondoner, nice to see you survived your Lost few days. Can't wait to hear all about it.;)

I thought this might be of interest to some as it has been mentioned on this thread mor than once.

The Counterfeiters will be shown on BBC4 on Monday 20th September 11pm-12.30am

    That was probably me :)

I saw it as a Freebie when it 1st came out and referred to it in a post when it was being shown on BBC a few weeks ago.

I also put it up as a suggestion for willeynotwiley and their film club - they posted that The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas had been a success and thought this would follow in its footsteps.

Starts in just a couple of minutes :)

    BBC4 - 11pm

It has some similar themes and the setting and it's not as good as The Departed (or Gone Baby Gone) but it's still a well made and acted film.

It shows that some studios (at least occasionally) want to make intelligent films for grown ups....Having said that there are a few car chases and shootouts that'll excite many.

And has Ben Affleck's head been squished? It looked longer and thinner than usual.
  • Really enjoyed 'The Town' good film. I'd watch it again.

LOL possibly but it seems to have improved his acting skills.

I just wonder what he's had squished to become such a good director...
  • Did anyone come up with a good suggestion for returned tickets?

    Think ideas were:

Post them on the chat thread
Create a new thread for returned cinema tickets
    and
Dont post them at all (bah humbug)

Mods, please feel free to make a MSE suggestion :)

To be honest I think the bah humbug option of Don't post them at all is the best suggestion.

Firstly what's the difference between a post saying "I've returned a pair of tickets for X at Y on Z" (mostly without the code they were obtained with - which makes it difficult to "find them" if there are several codes, which is the usual case) OR a post saying "Tickets still available for X at Y on Z" or "Just got tickets for X at Y on Z" a few hours or days after a code had been originally "made public" and the initial quantity had all gone ?

As I've said many times before - A CODE HAS NO TICKETS LEFT ONLY WHEN THE SCREENING HAS TAKEN PLACE.

Often another batch of tickets can be released on a previously posted code - sometimes just minutes, often hours or days after the initial release (OR the last time you tried the code) - AND WITHOUT NOTIFICATION !
Just keep trying as often as you can - Cancellations & returns don't just happen from those obtained by MSE members.

    Which nicely brings up ...
Secondly - All the codes for all the free screenings ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE TO MSE.
I can think of several other forums and the like where non MSE users are also trying to obtain tickets and are checking all the SAME CODES etc. as often as possible.
The chance of picking up the "actual same" pair of "returned tickets" from a post on ANY thread on MSE saying "I've returned a pair of tickets for X at Y on Z" is very very remote to say the least.
Indeed they could have gone even before the "I've returned" post has been made.
If they haven't unless you have "instant notification" and can respond immediately it is all but pointless - just try existing codes as often as possible.
If you HAVE GOT INSTANT NOTIFICATION - think about it ...
Returned tickets for films YOU'VE ALREADY GOT TICKETS FOR !
Returned tickets for codes that DO NOT INCLUDE ANY SUITABLE CINEMAS !
Returned tickets for SCREENINGS ON UNSUITABLE DATES !
That's a lot of checking notifications and/or returned tickets thread posts to STILL have to go to SeeFF or ShowFF or TellTen etc to TRY to obtain "this returned pair" from a very "SELECT FEW" codes (ALL OF WHICH YOU ALREADY KNOW) that are applicable to an individual (right film in the right cinema on the right dates) to find out you've been beaten to it. (probably by someone from FMUK or Bargainspy or HUKD who were unaware of a "MSE return")

So all in all WHAT'S THE POINT ?
