Does this annoy other people or is it me being miserable... People showing up late for a film, ie after it's already started, then:

    (1) asking you/others to move so they can sit together. Tough. Sit separately, you can't chat during the film. I don't mind, if the film hasn't started, but it annoys me when the film's started, everyone has settled and people ask you and others to move up just for them.

    (2) late comers who sit down, then decide they don't want to sit there, so get up and move to a different seat.

    (3) late comers in general!

    (4) Applies to anyone: those who chat during the film or whose phone rings. Also the woman in front took her shoes off and put her feet up on the arm of the chair in front. If I was sitting in front, I would have asked her to move her smelly feet.

Anyway, saw Karate Kid again today... just as good as the first time... People cheered and clapped at the end.

Jaden Smith is soo cute. However, I think it's a bit violent and wonder if it's really a PG film. The scenery is really beautiful and makes me want to visit China. Does anyone know where that mountain to the Dragon Water/Well is? Although I'm scared of heights. Walking up there would be fine, not sure about the journey down though :).

Also does anyone know what violin music that girl was playing?

Absolutely! Latecomers, chatters and worst of all, people on their Blackberry halfway thru the film!! Makes me go Hulk...

Loved Karate Kid too, and saw it twice now as well. The girl is playing Bach, I think.

As for the "Dragon well"... it could be the monastery that was featured on BBC's Around the World in 80 Faiths few years back... although I could be wrong.

I can relate to your anger. It bugs me too.

Nocturne # 20 in C Sharp Minor by Chopin transcribed for violin is the music.

    The Wudang Mountains, perhaps.

  • I hate all these things but especially the disrespect of the seats by putting their stinking feet often with shoes on on top of other seats, makes me want to chunder.

    Morning all,
I've already seen a few free films by using MSE which is fab.
Does anyone know whether they put any other foreign films on such as they have done with Heartbreaker in French.
I'd be interested to see free Bollywood and Spanish films!

I've seen about a dozen or so foreign language films with SFF plus a couple of Bollywood ones (although they were both in English)

Also, I don't know if this is of any interest, but there is a Premiere on the TV you might like to see :)

It WAS a SFF freebie about 3 years ago - I went to see it - The Counterfeiter (original title - Die Fälscher)

    Based on a true story.

I thoroughly enjoyed it although I seem to remember there were "complaints" from some on here that had got tickets for it (just greedily dived in and grabbed them without finding out anything about the film) when they only found out at the screening that it was in German with some Russian & Hebrew (and only a tad of English) and that they would actually have to READ the English subtitles.

It became the first Austrian film to win an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film Category.

Anyway, it is on TOMORROW (Sunday 11th) night - BBC 4 at 10pm

I'm going to watch it again

Sorry Sunny, I've been a latecomer a few times:o but in my defence it's been out of my control. I do know how annoying it can be though. So I wait until my eyes are accustomed to the dark so I can actually see the seats then take a seat as quickly as poss.

There are so many ignorant people in the cinema now, putting their feet up on the back of the seat and they either don't understand or probably more likely, they don't care that them banging the back of a seat means that the whole row reverberates. This is why I try and sit on the back row if I can. (Then I can get my phone out and check my email in peace without annoying anyone lol :D)

I tell you what is annoying me lately is people posting non free film info on the code thread! Paid for films are fine if you want to take advantage of an offer but post it in the right thread. The latest post even contains a referral link. It looks like anything goes after the Forum Managers post.:(

Sadly I've never seen The Counterfeiters although I've heard good things about it. I think the preview was shortly before I started going to previews regularly again.

My problem is that I can't watch sub-titled films at home. I get too easily distracted and end up missing half of what is going on. However, I have no problem watching foreign language films in a cinema because I can relax and concentrate on the film itself.

I think that some people are put off watching foreign films because they too can't watch them properly at home. I'm sure that if people give them a go they would be pleasantly surprised. It bugs the life out of me to see people walk out of a film such as Heartbreaker after a few minutes just because it is sub-titled. Jeez! You've bothered to go to the cinema, give the film a bit more of a chance than five minutes! It's not like you had anything else planned.

Went to see Karate Kid yesterday at a Showcase screening. Loved it, found it better than the original. However, must say I did find the bullying scenes a bit hard to watch.
Excellent performance by Jaden Smith, definately a young talent to watch out for, Will and Jada must be soooooo proud.

everythink is nice an calm in this thread at the moment, no arguments, no !!!!!ing so if anyone has a problem with mis posting on the codes only thread can they keep it to themselves!
I would like to say thank you to Adrien for posting that link. Yes you have to pay for the subscription but you can cancel at any time and it still involves recieving free cinema tickets. He's a newbie and has not realised... most wouldn't.
Well am just wondering has anyone came across any Toy story previews yet? I am so looking forward to it... it's got Barbie and Ken in... what more could we ask for please!!??!!!

    Just seen Karate Kid.

As good as the first if not better. I think it all comes down to your generation. For me, Daniel Son and Miyagi get the edge but this one is just as good.

    7.5 - 8 out of 10.
