It's a shame, as I really like this board, but some people are downright rude.
I know love but some people don't realise that mistakes can happen. I tend to keep my most recent email alerts so that I can click on the link and find something quickly if I want to refer to or reply to later. One day I accidentally clicked on the code only link for the theatre thread and posted chat thinking I was in film discussion. I received a very unpleasant pm to which I apologised and explained my mistake and then I removed the offending post. They never got back to me. When I pm someone and they apologise for their mistake,, I always take the time to reply. Mistakes happen but it isn't worth hanging them unless they make it a habit. Sometimes people are new to the site, forum or thread and don't know about the discussion thread as it can easily get lost because the free section is such a busy one. I keep it light and explain that they may well receive some less than pleasant replies but to ignore if they can or report if they are out of hand. Sadly I have had to do the latter in the past.
However, to play Devil's Advocate, the reason some people get angry with chat on codes is because they log on using their mobile phones and get charged and as such don't like to get several alerts only to find out it is chat rather than codes. Don't get me wrong I'm not condoning the nasty messages but giving their side of things. I'm fine logging on with my phone as I have a contract that includes unlimited internet usage.
What got to me today was that I sent the same message that I sent you to another chatterer who then accused me of bullying them and that I wasn't helping them I was jumping down their throat!
Aside from the annoyance side of things, It's no use discussing Sky's ongoing changing rules on codes only thread because the codes are deleted as films are screened but unless a Mod deletes something, all posts on discussion stay in the thread. If you can't find it on the most recent pages, then you can always do a search. BTW I don't mean you necessarily, I mean you in general terms but few people bother to do that which is when all hell breaks loose!:(
Anyway, all chat has now been removed from codes and my pm mailbox has had a serious cull so let's hope for more codes and previews:T

Thank you for your advice Tibbs, I shall follow it by forwarding the offending pms.
I must say that I agree with what you and others have said in regards to the posting by the MSE Forum Manager as it gives out very mixed messages. In particular it goes against the post by Lorweld asking us to politely pm people who chat on codes only.
To be honest, I rarely bother pming people any more because I got fed up either being ignored or I get the height of abuse. I only contact people when there are several messages posted and a discussion has been started. But when idiots start with the ticket thread police rubbish  and the Mods have conflicting views, is it worth the bother??:(

Depends where you mean by 'up north'. if you mean the proper north as in newcastle way, owners of the thin line between success and failure - hadrians wall :rotfl::rotfl: then yes, there are loads of showings... check out my signature to see how many i've managed to blag0 -

watched this last night.... much more enjoyable than i expected... catherine zeta jones never seems to age and justin bartha is not too far removed from a young mel gibson.. the fact that this film deals with modern day 'real' issues makes it a truly enjoyable watch... would recommend this as a perfect 'date movie'..0
