Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 8th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning.
Misty damp start. I thought this week was going to be better... It's a little warmer, but nothing special.
Work is plodding along and OH is still waiting for some teaching supply. Never a lot about this time of year...
Back to work means, not spending so much money, so the poor bank account can have a rest this week.
Have a good day....

Morning n9eav, and all to follow,
Bit of a dull start here too, yesterday turned into a beautiful day, so I am hoping today will be nice too.
I am doing a bean casserole for dd for tea tonight, OH and I will have some too with some neck of lamb in ours, will do it with some cous cous.
Need to give the kitchen cupboards a good clean out today, I have made so many hm goodies, that I need to re arrange and find somewhere to put them :T
Need to hoover through and mop floors too, a general tidy up, then I may get into the garden for a while.
Ok better get on, have goos days all x0 -
Morning everyone. MSD - where are you? You're usually on here by now; hope everything is OK.
Redruby - the forecast for your part of the UK is really good from later on this morning. On BBC Breakfast the chap said 'sizzling September sunshine' or something like that! Hope everyone gets a good sunny day.
I won't tell you all what it's like here!
Well, thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes for me yesterday. I had a lovely day; well, I tried to do the ironing in the morning but had so many phone calls from family that I had to pack it all away. Sadly, I must do it this morning.
Dinner tonight is something with some lovely pieces of lamb I found, probably a casserole in the Remoska. There's a lot of really tender lamb and it cost €1.21 - about £1. It will make enough for two meals so a real bargain. I shall have to buy some more this weekend if it's still on 'offert speciale'!
I hope everyone is keeping well. I didn't have much time to read yesterday's thread because DH took the day off, we went out for an afternoon picnic, then lazed about for the rest of the day. Consequently, I have a long 'to-do' list for today.
The BM and WM are both on, the bed's been made, the downstairs bathroom's been cleaned but, besides the ironing, I have to wash the kitchen floor, run the hoover over, write a couple of letters and prep for dinner, so I shall be kept quite occupied for the morning.
Will catch up with you all later.

Morning everyone.
Have a headache. Had two and a half glasses of wine last night and now look at me - I am such a cheap date!! It's quite clear my drinking days are over
Not much going on today (hopefully the first of many NSD's!). Am looking after a friends little girl for a couple of hours this morning whilst her mum settles her sister into pre school.
Washing is already on the line, half a load to put on. Its quite warm this morning with lots of cloud. It brightened up lovely yesterday afternoon so we got out into the garden, would be nice if we could do that again today.
Dinner tonight is supposed to be chicken in red wine sauce. Not made it before so no idea how it's going to pan out! Bought a bottle of Mr S's Basics Red wine to make the sauce so will have to see what that tastes like!
If I get chance I might make a sponge cake - haven't made one for months. I do like a cup of tea and a slice of cake........I can't say that withouth thinking of Wurzle Gummage

Good morning!
It looks miserable here too. Might actually make me do my jobs instead of frittering the time away.
DD enjoyed school yesterday and is looking forward to it again today.
We have some left over roast bacon so I'm planning a bacon, sweetcorn, peas and cheese sauce pasta thing for tea-don't know how it'll work out. I'll do some extra pasta and then dd can have tuna pasta salad in thursday's packed lunch.
I hope everyone has a good day. Hugs for those that need one.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Morning peeps
dull and cloudy this morning and rain is forecast later but i hope to sneak the washing out shortly and dry it before the weather turns.
I woke ages ago and as a result i have finished all the ironing, very pleased with this as i hate doing it but it irritates me when its there piled up waiting to be done, i rarely get to the bottom of the pile.
The dw had been emptied and the bm finished a while ago so i shall put it back on shortly to make the dough for bread rolls. I shall nip out to see just how warm it is before deciding whether or not to go and scrub some plant pots now before i walk the houndies or later after i get back and have peeled the veg for tea.
I have lots of bits and pieces to sort out before i go back to w*rk tomorrow so i need to get my behind in gear after these last few days off as it`s making me lazy
MeanMarie - was thunder hungry or had someone been feeding him?
Catch up with you all later, have a great day.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

You should be so lucky; it costs £9.50 per day for DD to get to college  Thank goodness DH and I have been able to be MS for the last few years, and can afford it
DS starts in Y10 today - I think he's ready to go back, and as he says, at least there's no more Geography :T
I'm doing the late shift at work, so there's HM bolognaise from the freezer, which DH will prepare - I love coming home to a hot meal on the table :rotfl:
Happy belated bithday to Mioliere :bdaycake:
Old Style list for today (late shift means a late start, so not off until about 9:30 :j ):- Flylady list
- lunchboxes for me and DS
- mending (button on my trousers and badges to Explorer shirt for DS)
- check what's on the menu plan for tomorrow

Morning all!
my list is somewhat longer than yours PP I'm afraid! It's a shame as I have a couple of days worth of paid sewing to do with a tight deadline so that always comes first. Apart from meal prep LOL! I shall get sewing in a few minutes and then stop every hour for a break to move around and prevent sore shoulders, can do a job each time and some things will get done.
Had HM burgers last night that ds made a while ago and were put in the freezer. HM potato wedges with and extra portion for dd's packed lunch.
There's a recipe for a potato pizza crust in dd's veggie book. Has anyone done one of these? I suspect that the kids won't like it as well as bread dough, but we have a lot of potatoes due to dd buying some while we were away and we already had a big bag. I will find it easier to roll with sore arm than regular dough.
On that subject, appointment through for arm brace next week, been waiting since the beginning of July.
Have a good day everyone. tipping with rain here! DH is working in East Yorks today, being MS with my parents over that way. Looks like the job there and the one in Immingham are set to continue for a while necessitating most of the week away will carry on for a while. Some of the time is spent in a hotel, so I suppose that's MS as someone else is paying for his meals. Also makes a little on his petrol expenses I think, but that should be being saved for a new car. Wear and tear and all that.
Last night was def not MS for me. Battery flat when I went to go to sewing club in Manchester. Eventually located charger and gave it a quick burst. half an hour on the motorway you would have thought was enough to sort it out, but came out of club and it was absolutely flat, no response. Called Rescue who own a place that fitted a new one for me. Fortunately they came in 20 mins, I followed back to the garage, they fitted new battery and then I went home. Late back, but never mind.
Can't think of anything else right now."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Will have lunch with Mum so most likely something quick on toast, eggs, spaghetti or sardines probably.

Bitsy - Know how you feel thats about my limit too, I add soda water now to spin it out a bit;)

Morning all.
Both kids enjoyed their first days at their respective new schools yesterday, so was really pleased. Had been on tenterhooks all day waiting to hear about it!
DD went to orthodontist, and to her relief he was so pleased with her progress he decided she didn't need headgear, or at least not yet. She was very happy to hear that!
Today I am treating myself to a wash cut and blowdry as I have some leftover holiday money. Normally I only get my hair cut a couple of times a year, a dry cut at the cheapest place I can find, but decided I deserved a treat this time!
After that I am meeting a friend for a catch up, so that will be nice.
Have a good day all.0 -
Morning all
Pretty overcast here at the moment, though it is supposed to be a warm if not sunny day so I have put washing out on the line.
Sc on with a chicken casserole that can cook merrily away whilst I am on Jury Service and I have some hm yorkshire puds in the freezer that can be served up with it so tea should be quick and easy tonight.
Wm on and hopefully OH can hang that lot out as he is calling home at lunchtime to let the dog out as she is not used to being left all day on her own (I normally finish work about 2 o'clock but not getting in from Jury Service until 5 - 5.30)
Right need to get on, will catch up with thread later, have a good day all
