12 year old goes to bed at 9:30 and 14 year old goes at 10:00 on school days - later at the weekend (about 10:30)0

For an 11 year old, 9pm - bedtime.
Lights out at 9.30pm."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
i left home at 19 - my bed time was 11pm lol even now at 25 if i stay the night at my mums i have to be in my room by 11 and no tv on after 11:30 lol (dont know if that helps!)0

if 10 is the latest you want her to go, then 10 it is!
if it helps... think of what you might be watching on tv at that time... would you be happy for DD to still be sat there?
also... i would want some kid free time before *I* go to bed
my DD is 9 and she goes to bed at 8.30 on school nights, weekends she can either stay up a bit longer (no telling how much longer this might be though... usually til she starts annoying me!) OR she can watch a dvd in her room if she goes at 8.300 -
It's such an individual thing, it's not easy to put a time on it.
My 11 year old goes to sleep by 10 on a school night but goes up to his room at about 8.30, he's great at self regulating and will go to bed earlier if he's tired. If he was tired in the morning or he wasn't doing well at school because of tiredness I would insist on an earlier bedtime.
I have a 3 year old too and he doesn't go to bed until 8.30pm. He is never tired and doesn't nap in the day.
As babies both boys had strict bedtime routines but I do believe that we should listen to childrens body clocks. My mum made me go to bed at 8 until I was quite old. I remember lying in my bed until 10 or 11 as I was never tired. Such wasted time!0 -
hi
just wondered what sort of time is right for our 11 year old dd .dh ays half ten but i think ten is the latest i want her to go thnks in advance nev x
Half ten is quite late - lack of sleep impacts on children's development and concentration at school. You also grown when sleeping!
Children generally need more sleep than adults estimate, at about age eleven, children still need at least nine hours a night, and I am guessing she will not go to sleep as soon as she gets into bed, so perhaps allow an extra 30 minutes on top of that for reading etc... However, better for her to go to bed a little earlier and be up bright and early than to be struggling and heading off to school tired and rushed in the morning.0 -
Wow I think some of these bed times are late, and then some are strict lol
I am not looking forward to this part when my kids are that age.
Personally I would have said bed by 8.30 asleep by 9.00
Hell I am in bed by 9.30 and asleep by 10.00 (but I am pregnant so I am using that as an excuse because I am so tired lol)Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

I agree - 10 or half past ten is an exceptionally late bedtime for my DD who is 10, will be 11 next month.
Our DD recently had bedtime moved to 8:30- from 8pm. At weekends she is allowed to stay up to 9pm.
I do, however, realise that kids and adults are different in their sleep requirements. If you kids get up before their alarms when sent to bed at 10 o'clock then maybe they could stand a later bedtime. Not sure why you'd want that, mind you.
Oh, and you do realise your kids will be the bane of every other parent in your kids class - 'but little neaveah gets to stay up till after 10 oclock, why am I going to bed at 9?':p
What are they doing up till that time of night? If it's video games and TV I'd stop that and see if they still want to stay up late.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Mine is 12 in 3 weeks, just started high school this morning. She's excellent at getting up, unlike her older brother was lol.
Her bedtime is 10pm and works well for her and us.
Its down to what the individual child works best with. Sending her bed at 9pm would achieve nothing other than having her fed up and staring at the ceiling for an hour.0
