would a restore windows cd help or if i by a driver detective cd thats suppose to correct your pc or is this a con ?

usally a total con and doesnt actually do what it was meant to. So maybe download the program from the link I gave above, you will be able to use your media player again, and maybe play some obcure file formats too. Not sure if you can custom install the files you need, bu if you can you want MPEG 2 decoder

Ive used your link and download avs video converter (wont work says need avtivation key?)
loaded avs player and it wont play the any dvd, I cant use it so im back to square one grrrrr

My kids will be happy now they can watch there dvds again.
