Thanks Thrifty and other recent posters! Yes, today was a good day! And a sunny one!
Was on some kind of MSE high......having investigated some other threads on this site, I set off full of hope for Poundland, not somewhere I go to all that much, but tempted in by the promise of Revlon goodies spoken of elsewhere ....and lo, I was lucky, and picked up a mousse-like shimmer eyeshadow, and a very natural and slighly berry lip tube, a la Juicy Tubes, and a fake tan, each £1. I'd seen cosmetics there before, but never investigated beyond the re-packaging, but can report that yes, they are genuinely Revlon. OK, so Space NK it's not, but when you want a cheap beauty fix, Revlon for £1 is fab!
Then I went to Boots, to cash in Mr R's £5 off skincare voucher, and again thanks to this site, found a Boots Time Delay SP15 facial moisturiser with gradual tanning too, which cost me a splendid 99p - for me of course, not Mr R! He has a natural tan as he does not worry overmuch about wrinkles......
Then to TK Max for sunglasses - clearance Fabris Lane for £7!
And on the family finances, we are overpaying our small (£8k) second mortgage, which we used to make a new shower room last year, by £500 a month for the next few months, so look to reduce that by £2.5k....and we have written to school to say that as we have cash at the mo, but not sure of our longer term prospects at this stage, can we come to an arrangement to pay some years fees up front, and maybe move DS3 there as well, in excahnge for a substantial discount.... Mr R's idea, he thinks good cash flow for school and investment for us, if price right......
And have asked designer friend of mine to create brand indentity for new business, and found out copy deadline for ad in local outlet, and about to begin networking like crazy to get clients.....
And got new Hoover - not using Quidco or anything sensible like that, as just like to go to John Lewis...but made it a modest one...
So busy busy

Well, dash it all! Got the quote for my new business artwork and ad - £300. Almost the same as the "work" I was planning....but even silly old Mrs R knows the business must come first, and be fab to get that up and running, without really going off track with the RBS payments, as next month's budget can absorb it. Time was, I would have thought that I'd just put the "work" on a card anyway, but no more. I shall just have to wait. And TBH, am not in desperate need of "work" yet, so best to wait....unless I can conjure up another £300!
OK, so not much more to say, I plod on.....

Could you enquire at the local art college to see if a graphics student wants to create artwork for say £50? I bet they'd jump at the chance.
Or could you make some flyers and print them at home, then when you build up a clientele up the ante with the expensive ad - in an "Elves and the Shoemaker" styley?

Thanks Macgirl - I know you're right....and I could...but I've given the go ahead! My designer is an acquaintance and her work is really good - so it's an investment! My face will wait - it's not going anywhere, ha ha - but whilst am massively enthused about the "project", I must press on......and it's all about creating the brand.....

I misread that - sorry, I thought you were going to wait. Well, that's good news. Can't wait to hear of your successes!0
