    Malc,
I've just received Ts & Cs for 'FixOnline' plan and Item 20 says:
"We may charge a cancellation fee as out in your confirmation letter if:
    - you transfer your gas and/or electricity to another supplier;
    - you transfer your gas and/or electricity to another E.O.N plan;
    - you move home and do not continue with your FixOnline plan if available."
The condition which I have underlined above, seems to contradict what you have advised in respect of exit fees for transferring tariffs. Please could you clarify?
    Thanks a lot

Spot on! Ive just read the t&c's too.Plus ive had confirmation from EON that to change to another tariff there is an exit fee.Thinking about not going to Fixonline 3 now, especially as prices may come down.

So he carried on informing me of the details and prices of the tariff for Save On Line for electricity only. I said ok and will think about it. On Saturday afternoon I phoned E-on again with the intention of going ahead but the representative said that the Save On Line is available for Dual Fuel only so I can't transfer to it.
Can you please inform me what is correct. Can I transfer to Save On Line for electricity only or is it for Duel Fuel customers only.
    Thank you.

    Hi hottomato

Sorry you were given the wrong advice when you phoned on Saturday.

Save Online is definitely available for electricity only. Gas only is not an option but electricity certainly is.

Hope this clears this up but give me a shout if I can help further. :)

I'm confused. I also have the letter stating we will be changed to R3 tariff automatically. The letter also states: "And remember, if our Standard prices fall below today's level, then yours will too." So this is not a fixed rate? My bills will go down if prices fall, but they won't go up if prices rise? Then there is no need to worry? Or did I miss something?

As with other posters, my tariff will automatically move to the e-on R1 from 1 October and whilst I understand that prices will not increase until 2011, what I can't find out is whether I am 'locked in' to this tariff until 2011 should I not actively move to a different one. I am doing a price comparison at the moment and will probably move to a different provider but I need to know whether I need to get in touch with e-on before 1 October to temporarily move to another deal with them that I can get out of without paying a penalty.

    Hi b56c

You are not locked into the R1 tariff. You can change supplier without being charged an exit fee although we don't give discount on the final bill.

Prices on the R1 tariff are currently higher than our other products. Therefore, it would definitely save you a bit of money if you change to a different tariff whilst the change of supplier goes through.

This is easy to do. Either give us a call or change yourself through our website. The switch will take place immediately. Just make sure you don't choose a product with an exit fee.

Hope this helps. Give me a shout if you need any more info. Always happy to help.

  • Hi
Just a word of warning. Today i went online to update my readings and then to change my tariff to the Saveonline to stop me being switched to the R2 in the interim period before i join EDF. For some strange reason it wouldn't let me give any readings online and wouldn't let me switch tariff so i had to ring the number.
The readings were straight forward but she couldn't switch me to the saveonline tariff as she said it didn't give her that option - so she switched me to the standard tariff. I asked her what i should do and she gave me another number to ring (the branch in charge of the internet side i think) who have apparently sorted it out for me - i'm hoping i'll get confirmation soon.
The guy i spoke to seemed to think it wasn't letting me do those things online as i was switching supplier......anyhow, hope its a bit easier for everyone else, but if you do have some hassle just hang on in there.

    Hi patf

Sorry if I've caused some confusion with a previous post.

In the past, none of our products carried a charge for switching between our tariffs. Generally, this is still the case.

However, there is a T&C on some products, including Fixonline 3, which says we may do this. I have discussed this at length with our pricing people and, basically, whether or not this will be charged depends on the circumstances at the time.

For instance, when a product nears its end date there are a great many customers affected. We recognise it is near impossible for them to all change products/suppliers on the same day.

Therefore, cancellation charges tend to be waived in these circumstances. The actual time this kicks in varies and depends on the product in question.

This is one set of circumstances and others may apply.

To be honest, this is a relatively new T&C and it is not clear how, or even if, it will be applied. If you want to be absolutely sure it won't be applied I would choose a product where it isn't included in the T&C's even if it means opting for a different supplier.

Again, sorry for the confusion caused.

    Hi Avogrado

Spot on. R3 is a protected/capped tariff. Therefore, prices will not go above those signed up for during the term of the contract.

However, they will come down if our standard rates go below those agreed at the outset.

    Hi Malc,

Thank you for your helpful information regarding Save Online. I have just returned to E-on and changed to it. I must say that E-on were very lucky not to have lost a customer because of the wrong advice given by one of their reps and the attitude that was given.

Once again thank you very much.

    Hi bfarrar

In essence, there is very little difference between the R1, R2 and R3 tariffs. Basically, it is to stagger the end dates in 2011 to help us better handle the demand caused when they expire.

Customers on the Energy Saver products ending today are being offered the R1 with an expiry date of 1 April 2011.

Customers on the Price Protection tariffs also ending today are being offered an alternative 'R' product but with an expiry date dependant on when they signed up for their previous deal. These are as follows.

    R1 - 1 March 2011.
    R2 - 1 April 2011.
    R3 - 1 May 2011.

For each customer the actual end date will be advised in the letter advising of the tariff change.

Hope this answers your question bfarrar. Give me a shout if you need any further info. Will be glad to help. :)
