Well, you have a 50% chance of giving her the first grand whatever-your-SIL-doesn't-have, don't you?

TBH, the sun shines out of the rear end of my mum's youngest grandchildren ... and mine are the eldest.

With my MIL, they are all treated equally, although she has admitted that each of them has a favourite. That's OK, because there's her, FIL and BIL, so one for each of them! :rotfl: And I'm not sure the boys would know that.

The ones who have the sun shining out of their posteriors are not my sister's children, so that's not the situation in my case!

As a Mum I dont love my 1st more than my 2nd or 3rd so why would I as a Grandma. I have enough love to go round and if anything I am closer to numbers 2 & 3. Dont get me wrong though I love them all equal and my Mum who has 5 grandchildren shows no favouritism either.
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

I agree with this, i think girls stay closer to home then boys. but i think most people try and treat all the kids the same, see the positive side your kids will be close in age so they will already have a play mate. congrats on your big day to come, and congrats on your neice or nephew to be

My SIL did the same to me -I cried all night as I had been trying at that point for 4 years.

To be honest I think yes as your the daughter then your child will be a little more special.

It's like having children , some are easy babies -easy to be a round and some are not so easy but turn out to be better teenagers etc. They are all loved and despaired about at different times in their lives.

She didn't do anything 'to you' though, did she? She got pregnant, it wasn't about you!

I don't understand what the fuss is about, it's jealousy, nothing more.

    Agree!
The green eyed monster is such an ugly trait. It's all about the OP (me, me, me) how dare her SIL get pregnant before she does, how dare she give birth a month before her wedding, how dare she give the grand parents their first grandchild especially since she has only been with her partner for 12 months!

    Feel the love baby!
  • My parents treat my two children the same, I was worried when I was having my DS because they doted on my DD and I thought it was impossible for them to treat them equally. I was of course wrong and they now dote on two instead of one :). My brother and his wife are expecting their first and I know all the same excitment is already there for their pregnancy as my parents had for mine and I know they will dote on all 3 children equally.

I was fell in the middle of 18 Grandchildren for my Nanna and even though some didn't live near by so it was harder she treated us all the same. If we got pocket money off her she would put the same in a moneybox for those not there. When we were all together she showed us all the same love. If she could do it with 18 of us and then 25 great grandchildren I am certain your parents and future in laws will do it for your future children. A new arrival is exciting, regardless of how many they have already been so I honestly don't think you will miss out on anything by not been the first xx
