Hey there
To add to what the lovely Di is saying I have recently had experienced with Welcome - I've successfully claimed back my PPI from a personal loan with them.
I sent off my first letter, they replied with their form wanting more details, I duely filled it in and returned it, it took some weeks but they have come back and offered to refund all PPI.
I know Welcome have got some stick, and although they are painful to deal with as in no-one ever seems to answer their phones etc, I've found them to be ok with me and polite and helpful when you get through. To be honest, I'd say fill in their form, send it recorded delivery and see what happens - though be prepared for a bit of a wait.... They have been fine with me when I did it....
Good luck, hope it goes well, x
Hi hun, thanks for posting this, and I'm sure this will be a great help to Tweenie and others in the same situation.
Well done on your hard work with these and glad you got there in the end, this gives others hope......:T:T.
Again Well done to you.

The further information they are asking for is set out on with the following questions
When did you first become aware that you had a complaint?
June 2009
Where and/or how did you take out the PPI policy?
Over the phone along with the loan in 2006
In your own words please tell us the exact reasons for your complaint
The sales assistant had no financial background and the impression given to me was that if I didnt take out PPI then it may be detrimental to getting the loan.
What do you remember from the time you took out the policy?
Talked into taking out PPI along with other insurances of Lifecare 24 and a personal accident plan
What documentation were you given when you took the policy out?
A copy of my agreement
Please provide details about your job at the time you took out the policy and also details of any other PPI policies you have had in the past.
Worked as employed for 40 hours a week, this then changed to self employed after approximately 6 months so the PPI wouldnt have covered me. No other PPI policies have been taken out by myself.
This is what I have put on the form and I will get my husband to sign it later along with the letter and see what happens from there. Fingers crossed.0 -
Thank you Di you have been really helpful and given me the courage to fight this where as with out this site I probably wouldn't have suggested it in the first place and if I had started would have given up with the first letter off welcome coming through the door
Will keep you informed of how we get on0 -

Your very welcome tweenie.:A
You will get there and just to let you know I have been here myself before when others were helping me through this.;)
Just keep strong and keep at them, you will do fine.;)XXXThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello there
Sometimes they do require further information in order to complete their investigations, although its also known as well as stalling tactics.
I would write back and tell them you strongly believe you were mis sold due to the reasons you given them on your letter dated XX/XX/XXXX and expect to hear from 8 weeks as from the date of that original letter, if you can think of anything else to tell them, give them the details as well.
You can tell them due to being mis sold you were out of pocket, and its very costly, something like that may help.;)
Of course if they do not agree, wait for the final decision which should enclose details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to them if your not satisfied with the outcome.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Hi,
I dont know if anyone has any advise of trying to reclaim payments made (and ongoing) for other insurances through Welcome Finance.
Four months ago I sent my car back to Welcome Finance after paying back more than what the car was worth in monthly payments including GAP Insurance and Mechanical Breakdown cover which I never originally agreed too.
Now they still want me to pay £2600 (is increasing with letter and phone call charges) for the insurance I would still be paying over the next 18 months.
I had already complained to the FOB who advised I needed to make it official with Welcome Finance.
I have spoken with the insurance companies direct who advised it is upto welcome finance they have to get the payment to them still.
On writing to Welcome Finance they sent back a standard letter stating I didnt have PPI so there wasnt an issue to querie!
They wont accept a monthly payment of £10 a month from me (which is now more than I can actually afford) so I'm getting late payment markers which is affecting what was a vastly improved credit rating.
I was hoping someone may of or know someone who has fought this battle as I'm a bit lost as to where to go next and running out of time.
Any advice at all will be very welcome.

Hi,
Hi there
I dont know if anyone has any advise of trying to reclaim payments made (and ongoing) for other insurances through Welcome Finance.
I'm sure there are many on here who have and will hopefully post up soon with their experience with these.
Four months ago I sent my car back to Welcome Finance after paying back more than what the car was worth in monthly payments including GAP Insurance and Mechanical Breakdown cover which I never originally agreed too.So they basically added this insurance without your knowledge, or pressurised you into taking this out?
Now they still want me to pay £2600 (is increasing with letter and phone call charges) for the insurance I would still be paying over the next 18 months. It can work out very costly indeed!
I had already complained to the FOB who advised I needed to make it official with Welcome Finance. So I take it you have already done this then.
I have spoken with the insurance companies direct who advised it is upto welcome finance they have to get the payment to them still.
Passing on the buck perhaps, its basically who arranged and sold you this finance you write to.
On writing to Welcome Finance they sent back a standard letter stating I didnt have PPI so there wasnt an issue to querie!
Do you have the agreement for this?
If not then write to them with a payment of £1 postal order or cheque payment, request for a true copy of your agreement and you expect to receive this by 12 days, post by recorded delivery.
This will show if any insurance included etc.
They wont accept a monthly payment of £10 a month from me (which is now more than I can actually afford) so I'm getting late payment markers which is affecting what was a vastly improved credit rating.
If having difficulties if you've not done so yet, write to them and not ring them, explain your hardship, and request they accept this at this time being until your financial situation improves, you can also receive advice on this on the debtwannabe thread above here:

Any advice at all will be very welcome.

As above I would do this by requesting for your agreement, and post on the above link where many are in the same situation, there are also template letters if your struggling with repayments on the nationaldebtline, all free, here:
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
Click on the area where you live on the map and on the right hand side you will find the link to letter templates, they are very useful.
Good luck with this and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Di,
Many thanks for the advise, I will try and get the payment arranged straight away with a template from the website.
I never wanted to agree to the finance arrangement. It was a joint car loan with my ex partner who got me to the garage (Concept Cars) on the basis of a payment arrangment of less than £150 a month.
When I arrived on signing the dotted line to my horror I saw that the payment was doubled with insurance payments. A hard sell was then given me and my partner (who apparently already knew of the extra cost). The salesman advised we couldnt take the car if we didnt agreed to the added insurances, so after jsut getting back from traveling being pregnant and desperately needing a new car I signed the agreement assuming I could cancel the insurance within 28 days (my silly thought!).
I didnt try to cancel the insurance in time (within 14 days) so I'm still stuck with it now! but do feel I was pressured and miss sold the insurance.
I have written to the FOB already and need to write back really to Welcome Finance again. I do have the original agreement and a copy they sent on my request which is the same.
Welcome finance has advised me I didnt need the insurances to have a loan with them and I have been advised incorrectly.
