Hi, nhs do a low income scheme, whereby they look at what you earn and what you have outgoing, and adjust the cost, or you could possibly buy an nhs prepayment certificate which will cost £28ish for 3 months check on the nhs website cos i dont seem to be able to post links.
Whatever your OH says, stick with the medication.Bi-polar is a chemical imbalance it is not environmental. Now you have a OPA with a psychiatrist, hopefully they can find a balance which works for you.PM me if you want to,
Take care,

prozac made me feel worse
seroxat made me go to the toilet for England!
seems my best combination -75mg venlafaxine-carbamazepine and 600mg lithium
but don't forget it takes some weeks for the full effect and regular blood tests as lithium is toxic
and don't forget also there is always someone worse off than you!!

if you cant afford your medication you should complete a hc1 to see what it gets you free!!i personally think mental health drugs should be free for everyone diagnosed--manics need no excuse to stop taking meds!!--its costs thousands a week to keep us in hospital against our meds costs!
i noticed someone say about them stopping breathing while asleep--i am told i do this but i feel no ill affects or mood alteration--hasnt killed me -yet!-i sleep very well under the influence of a small dose of respiridone-i have noticed though a side affect of this drug--a slight facial 'habit! of folding my tonge up and poking it out a bit--i have been on this anti psychotic for 9 years!!anyone suffer affects like this?mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Am having a bad day today. Woke up in tears, was consoled by my other half whilst getting ready as alas, I still have to go to work or i wont get paid. Have now run out of meds, get paid on friday but im not registered with a doctor so need to do that and get an appointment......... havent got a repeat prescription as this was my first prescription for these meds so no doubt they'll have to phone the pyschiatrist to confirm that he did indeed give me a prescription........ god knows how long it'll be before i get my meds.
Sorry for the rant, just a low mood day.February Grocery Challenge- £140/£200 Spent.
Weekly Spend Challenge- £0/£5 Spent.
Crazy Clothes Challenge- £0/£100 Spent

My son has bipolar and I take control of his drugs and the repeats, could your OH do this for you?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
i presume at the beginning of diagnosis the doc likes to see someone before dishing out meds--i now get my pharamacy to collect my prescription from the surgery and then i collect the meds from them at my leisure-i allow about 7 days between first call and collection--they would even deliver if i was 'holed up'
as an add on-anyone know a building society or bank that still gives mortgages to people on benefits!??-if i start a thread on here they will push it into mortgages and i get a gaffaw of disbelief on there!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Sorry i dont know anything about mortgages but im sure someone will help you soon.
Feeling kinda strange today not high or low but not normal, cant put my finger on it though? keep dreaming that i have cancer or someone i know has it, dont know why i keep dreaming, since i been on seroquel i dream every night with more than one dream.
How is everyone today?Is a Bipolar bear0 -
I'm feeling tired all the time, even though I've had a good nights sleep. I'm hoping it will pass soon, as I have been doing alot of work to the house, and struggling with it all. May say to mum today can we take a week's break if it's not finished as I'm getting teary again, just want to sleep etc.
I also know nothing about mortgages, sorry.
Hope everyone's keeping ok0 -
i do wish there could be a thread linked to bi polar with money matters as the main topic--we dont fit in the main stream frame work of things because of the nature of the illness and spending -for instance i have someone with my power of attorney who can shut some of my avenues of blowing it all in one hit!-i could be remortgaging to blow it all on toy trains!!!-İm not going to but i do suffer the contrary psychological state of being too careful with my money-i put it down to the times when i have 'overspent'! -anybody know which forum i would post a thread!!???mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

I knowhow you feel with being tired, my seroquel makes me tired all day even if i get 12 hours sleep! i have tried from 7 to 12 hours sleep to see if i am any different during the day and guess what i am not! still tired regardless.
Hope your ok starnight, i know how you feel and wanting to cry because of it too **hugs**
When it comes to money de1amo i am useless, i spend it before i have it etc OH has to make sure i pay bills etc otherwise i would be in a real mess lol
Got my cpn coming tomorrow she asked me to do a timeline 4 weeks ago, i start it brings up horrible memories and i throw it away, still not finished it! might try and do a section of it tonight of the worst part (16 years onwards) when i was raped, this is when my BP started, anyone else done a timeline and looked backwards? Is a Bipolar bear0
