Have spent the day looking out for any announcements on what will happen to the Mortgage Rescue Scheme in the spending review.
Just seen this letter by Grant Shapps, Minister for Housing and Local Govt, link here
http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/housing/pdf/1746957.pdf
in which he announces
"As part of this investment we intend to provide £200m so that the Mortgage Rescue scheme can stay open to support vulnerable homeowners threatened with repossession"
Good news0 -
Oh thats fab Angie, thank you for finding that.......spend ages looking yesterday but could not find anything!! We are going to continue as we are for now, as CAB advice is not to rush into anything, particularly as all creditors and lenders are 'playing ball', so may find ourselves pursuing this again next year, although the issue of BR after completion of MR is still a concern. Oh well, will just be pootling along for the next few months trying to save up for BR fees and potential rental deposits xxNot as silly as I was thanks to MSE:)0

Thanks, I was looking for any info on it too.
I'm still waiting to hear back from my housing association, they're dragging their feet a bit. Not to mention the slightly laid back man in charge at my local council who is looking after our MR case. Who went on holiday then only sent an email (to the wrong people) the day before the court hearing!!
I sent off all the MR forms at the beginning of Sept. Had three appointments at the CAB doing financial statements and had my Repo court hearing on 28th Sept in which thank god the judge gave us a 56 day adjournment pending a decision from HA.
I've been quite positive about it up until now. Starting to feel like its going to be a big fat NO and we'll be repossessed anyway. The solicitors want us to make at least one full mortgage payment with something towards the arrears... Can we cancel Christmas this year!?
Sorry to post on your lovely positive thread Angie!!x

Aww thanks lbm. Really nice post. If im honest it's all slowly sinking in and starting to feel 'real' if you know what I mean! The kids were over the moon we could finally tell them we are staying here, and my daughter is already planning a new colour for her bedroom!
Thanks, I was looking for any info on it too.

Hi west
Please don't apologise for your post. I am over the moon when other people going through mrs post here, no matter if its positive or not. The more information we can share the better and I have learnt lots from others on here thats helped me!
:mad:to your council guy!! What a nightmare. Hopefully now we know mrs is continuing it might really push your case along, its not going away, so surely the councils will need to get their act together and start pushing cases through. I know my local CAB were waiting with baited breath over yesterdays announcement because they have a backlog of applications waiting!! So please stay positive.
I can't understand why you are being asked to make full payment? We continued paying what we could afford all the way through, some months less than others, but this was no way near full payment. You can't pay what you don't have. I also have a friend who has just completed that didn't make a payment for many months as their mrs dragged on and they too were convinced they would be moving out so saved what they could for renting.
I have been thinking of starting a new thread on Mortgage Rescue, with all the information I have or can find plus links to websites. My diary thread is everso longso maybe a new thread where others can post their experiences would be an idea? What do you think?

Congratulations Angie! So pleased for you.

How much can I save in 2012 challenge
75/1200 :eek:0 -
Hi Angie,
A seperate thread sounds like a great idea! ...with all your information and experience :A ...Great for anyone starting MR as there isnt always a lot of info given to you, (for me anyway!)
The solicitors said it would be in our best interest to pay at least one months payment to show the Judge that we were at least trying???? I know pointless!I think I will pay what we can as like you said if it isn't going to happen we need to be saving up for rent etc
Although hopefully we shoudn't even need another court hearing for Repo if by then we have had a decision from the HA? Surely they would just stop all proceedings by the Government ruling thingy?
It will be only 4 weeks to then next Tuesday
Also had the bombshell from the Mr Council man that we wouldn't be eligble for any housing as we would have intentionally made ourselves homeless!!! CAB had something to say about that
Not that I want or expect a handout just have two children aged 1 and 2 and obviously worry about that
Thanks again and looking forward to your new thread!
