Aww thanks lbm. Really nice post
. If im honest it's all slowly sinking in and starting to feel 'real' if you know what I mean! The kids were over the moon we could finally tell them we are staying here, and my daughter is already planning a new colour for her bedroom!
How lovely :j0 -
Hi Angie,
A seperate thread sounds like a great idea! ...with all your information and experience :A ...Great for anyone starting MR as there isnt always a lot of info given to you, (for me anyway!) thanks, I think so too! Am going to work on it as soon as I can.
The solicitors said it would be in our best interest to pay at least one months payment to show the Judge that we were at least trying???? I know pointless!I think I will pay what we can as like you said if it isn't going to happen we need to be saving up for rent etc
Although hopefully we shoudn't even need another court hearing for Repo if by then we have had a decision from the HA? Surely they would just stop all proceedings by the Government ruling thingy?
It will be only 4 weeks to then next Tuesday  We were told that the Housing Asaociation wouldn't get involved until we had received the '15 day letter' threatening repo. This really slowed us down because the mortgage co, although willing to support our mrs, dragged their heels on issuing the letter and delayed everything further! We got it eventually but had to push for it.
Also had the bombshell from the Mr Council man that we wouldn't be eligble for any housing as we would have intentionally made ourselves homeless!!! CAB had something to say about that
Not that I want or expect a handout just have two children aged 1 and 2 and obviously worry about thatAgain that doesnt sound right to me but I am no expert, we were told we would be assisted by the council if the mrs failed.
Thanks again and looking forward to your new thread!

Im a little short on time to reply here but will catch up later, I will PM you my email later if you like?

I think it should become a 'sticky' like the Debt Relief Order one.
But I'm not sure what the best board for it would be?0 -
Hi Ange
Hope things finally work out for you.

Angie, great idea about a seperate thread for this subject - which hopefully following the sp. review means that more and more people can get help from this!!! I know I certainly need all the help I can get!! Just hoping my LA will pull their finger out now the SR has given the MR a postive boost!!!
I also have another question for anyone who might know.... if our MR all goes thru and we become tenants of a Registered Social Landlord (RSL), does this mean that we'd be eligable for swapping our home with someone else via websites like "Homeswapper" or "councilexchange dot org" at some point in the future?! I only ask cos we're currently in a 2bed maisonette - which we LOVE but it means our two children, boy (4yrs) and girl (2yrs) share a room which is absolutely find for now but obviously that can't happen forever so it was just a thought I had and wondered if anyone would know about it?
Thanks all!!

Hi H,
In answer to your question above we were told that we would have NO rights to exchange/swap our property with any other social housing tenant.
Our Housing Association is Moat. Whether other HA's differ I have no idea? but it was made clear to us in our initial interview with them that exchange/swap was not available as a Mortgage Rescue Applicant.
Glad you support the idea of a separate thread, just need to work on that next week and hopefully I can put something together that will help others with information.
Also a BIG thank you to North East Derbyshire CAB for the link to info on Assured and Assured Shorthold Tenancies.

Hi Angie, thanks for letting me know that..... kinda not good news cos worry about the future but I guess I just need to focus on the here and now really cos who knows what's gonna happen in 5/6yrs - might have won the lottery by then, ha!!! I will double check it with our HA but I would imagine that it's probably the same across the board?!
Wondering if you could apply to the powers that be about getting an actual board set up specifically for the MRS? Or maybe for that and other mortgage help schemes together? Think it's something that'll be more in demand over the next few years!!!

I would just like to add a comment, if i may?
A huge thankyou to all branches of Derbyshires CAB. It seems they have a fantastic network, tremendously supportive, and thanks for all the hard work and commitment they have for people.

Wish I'd found this site earlier. Glad it has worked for someone.
I will have to keep a track of it - as I am thinking about starting this process. I have just had my Mortgage Interest payments reduced, which means that what i have to pay on my mortgage has gone up from £183 to £386 a month. Which on my benefits of £625 is too much. I'm already down to £12 a year for Shoes and Clothes.
I went to the council - who referred me to the CAB; but the CAB lady i saw was so not helpful at all. She just looked down the information and told me it was no good for me - then proceeded to try and work out how to negotiate with the mortgage company - but i already have help with that bit (and told the lady who assessed my need for appointment, and her at the beginning of the meeting) - I just needed the info on the MRS.
I am in a 2 bed flat - which i have been in since 2000 - i became unwell 4 years ago. And have been on benefits ever since.
A studio flat - privately rented in my area is £550 and my mortgage only £625 (C&I) I have already been reduced to interest only, taking it to about £586 - so i can't afford to privately rent either, because of my income. I am really struggling with the potential of loosing my house, and not quite sure where to go next - The thought of going back to the CAB is frightening, as i find it stressful just going in and attempting to deal with issues. So far I have been to my CAB 6 times in 4 years, and each time they haven't been able to help me, so i guess i'm a bit despondent now. Prior to these 2 visits it was help with debts, and they told me i'd come in too early to deal with them. I had to wait until i was getting letters demanding money before they could help me.
I have mental health problems, and I cannot deal with things easily, so each time getting into the CAB has been a struggle. Another charity is now helping me with my debt problems, but they don't deal with MRS - I have to find out about that on my own, and whether to persue it or not.
Any advice anyone has will be really fab.Any tips on how to to live on £625 a month are gratefully received. Like to see David Cameron try it!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Leisure budget now 33p a day - anyone know what i can do to relax on that
Current Debt repayment period - 545 years and 6 months:eek::eek::eek:
Like they're gonna wait that long! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
