No heating here yet. Last year I held out to a couple of days shy of December, am hoping to do the same this year. Mind you I am helped slightly by the fact I have storage heaters and it takes planning to have heat, it has to be consistently really cold before I go down that route.

    It's still warm here too.

I have the small windows open pretty much all the time as yet.

The building I live in (block of flats) had cavity insulation done this year - I guess it's about now we'll see if it's made any difference.

I did put the autumn duvet on the bed last weekend (9 tog instead of the summer 4 tog) but all that's done is made it even harder to get out of a warm bed in the mornings...:D
  • Rock hard I must be!!!! I live on the North Yorkshire coast and my house looks right out to sea (lovely) but its far too hot for the heating atm, in fact we were at the beach at tea time in our beach hut. Saying that though I make the kids go to the beach hut in the middle of winter. I just sit on my bum in my coat and yell at them that *theres kids who would love to live near the sea, stop being so ungrateful* :D

I've been more chilly the last week or so, but no heating on yet as we need to order some coal first and we're pretty skint, so need to make the coal last. Will get the coal by the end of this month, but no fires to be lit until mid-October at the earliest! I've moved the two fleece blankets from the spare room into the living room - we've already used them for a couple of evenings watching TV. Next task is to sort out the winter clothes and pack the summer stuff away...

I don't want to put mine on as long as possible.
On a pre-payment meter for the first time, and hate seeing the pennies go down!
I feel the cold easily but find my fluffy dressing gown and slippers do the trick.

  • No way! It's still pretty warm in Devon at the moment, although I have been slipping on a fleece jacket first thing in the morning and some evenings. I might be more tempted to be put the heating on if I lived up north!

However as someone else has said, no heating until 31 October. Until then we wear warmer clothes, warmer duvets on the bed, and snuggle under fleece blankets.

It's not cold here, but it's been very damp and misty for a couple of days. YUK!

Its far too warm to contemplate the heating... even in a seaside town. had relatives down over wkend, they were complaining how bitterly cold it was here...

I love autumn and winter, i prefer being cool to hot! However having recently had an operation i must confess i have been layering blankets on my side of the bed (DH too hot still) then ripping them off as soon as i get too hot.

I cant see us having heating on for a good while. just got myself some nice slippers so they keep me toes toasty! and yes i still have all the windows open. :D
Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Heating will occur as of 1st October or when the temp drops below 20 ... whichever happens first. Love the fresh air but am now shutting all windows by 3pm to conserve heat
