Happy anniversary RoseP - I hope you're feeling a bit brighter this evening.Dustykitten wrote: »Soappie how is the speech coming along?
It's mapped out in my head. I've decided I shall just do a bullet point list and wing my way through them. I've done enough of them now to have that confidence.... The first one I ever did - oooh, about 10 years ago - I was an absolute nervous wreck and shook as I delivered it reading it word for word off the paper. It just shows that practise makes things easier to do.....
Toots - I'll have a Tuesday star when you have a moment please..I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Lil_me - no they didn't know him. Loads of plane had landed in Canada and they were all taken to a high school - hundreds and hundreds of people sleeping on the floor. Local families then started arriving and 'adopted' people and, because my dad was elderly, one particular family took him home. He wore their clothes as well because suitcases were left on the planes. We're still in touch with the family and next year we're having their daughter staying here as she's touring europe. It's nice to be able to repay the favour.
Rosepink - hugs to you, hope your mum is ok.
Our dining room is now in the conservatory and we've realised we don't need to buy a sofa for the new living room. We're just going to get bean bags and cubes so children can just lounge around in there as they do so well!! Tomorrow i'm going to rehouse a couple of nice ornaments from in there.....children + wii + computer = broken nice stuff! They won't just play in there.....it's got all our books in so is going to be a nice quiet room to read, do homework etc too. That's the theory!!
Yawn.....time for bed I think xx0 -

Still managed to be here when I got in, plus bags of clutter.
And they 'bought' us an expensive HD ready flat screen TV, which we are now paying back at £80 a month. It's a big gesture, but I wish they'd realise their son can't budget and piling more on him doesn't help.
Sad but true.
Er...how did they work that one out? Did they pitch up with a tv and say here you go and by the way you owe us £80 a month? They've got some nerve! Could you not get them to take it back? £80 a month is an awful lot of money (((hugs))) xx
Evening all
Flying wise I'll tidy the coffee table and paperwork and sort out my lunch for tomorrow
First days training for my new job. I didnt do much, but I'm knackered! Impressed one of the bosses with a simple pivot table...easy peasy. Early night for me, I think.
Big squishy squashy hugs all round xx0 -
evening all. dw on and on...
got a new one today, but not getting it out of the wrapper til plasterer has been. Its a cream smeg one.
Sounds like you are living in interesting times, Princess Jane. My outlaws are obsessed with big tellys as well. "how can you possibly watch such a small tv?" er..well " cos watching tv isn't my life's ambition". But like the Murphys, I'm not bitter!!
hugs to everyone (except piggers, since she doesn't do hugs). Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Evening everyone. Got the dailies done and some of the living room list. Had a meeting at the hospital first thing so stayed on and did some time on the ward and meeting and greeting.
g&b Hugs

Mudbath Well done on the two lists.0 -
Princess Jane and gratefulforhelp - we went through a phase of getting offered peoples castoff tvs because ours is so antiquated. At the moment we can only get bbc1 and channel 4 though this changes on a daily basis. We still have the kind of tv that's about three feet in depth! Saying that....we want a tv for the other living room to play dvds on so i'm hoping someone will offer us another tv soon!!
I was just looking at the cost of tv's ....oh my goodness....they cost a fortune and none of them just seem to be a tv. They all have dvds, freeview, sky etc etc. So, because I don't understand, i'll do what I always do and put my head in the sand....my tv is just fine!!!:rotfl:
Thank Boddy....I might just do tomorrow's list too! xx0 -
Manic Monday ~ Kitchen of Grot and Diming Room of Gloom
Level Three DONE
Clean the oven
The oven is looking a bit better, used an idea from another thread with boiling water and lemons in the oven with the heat on. It loosened it slightly but worked a lot better when I poured water on the base of the oven. We took it one step further and rubbed the lemon into the base and sides of the oven, helped with the baked on stuff. It is far from perfect, I am buying some Oven Pride when I visit my mum tomorrow and I am also borrowing her steamer. It usually works on her oven so I will give it a go, can also use it on the bathroom tiles!
Monday and Tuesday all done Toots, 2 stars please
