Are you directing this at me FC? No offense, but I have Project Manager Mewbs to do the work for me. I'm strategic surveying me.
Ooops...as a long time self employed person, I am bit out of touch with corporate type behaviour and staff pecking orders. I am always the boss.

Yes but I'm contracted to work within this board. I'm not really prepared to go travelling, not on these rates.

And people wonder why I keep employing foreigners.

Will be interesting to see how this measures up in a year's time!

    I'm in for +3.7%

You're number 50 I think Framps. We only need 8,551 more and we'll have better numbers than the official poll.

    So get number-crunching, then Cleaver.

Are us educated types on here more or less pessimistic than the general populace who voted on the original poll?

    Figures please!

    NO NO NO.

You predict. Please. Just for me. It's sod's law that you, the least most knowledgable person on the planet, unless it happens to be what's in the next door neighbours knickers... you will get it right.

    Er, no offence meant.

Erm, why not just 'least knowledgeable person'?

BTW, I think there's an item that could be about our Fungus on the Beeb Wales news website. :D

Can I play? As a FTB frantically saving for a deposit, I'm hoping for -4% :)

So, less of a prediction, more wishful thinking!

I Put a link on Wilsons thread for Dopestar....figured he may like to win a Turkey Baster but haven't passed ships with Gen recently.

    I want the wallet.

Thanks fc. I've not deliberately been avoiding putting my forecast down on Cleaver's thread [not found the bit about the prizes yet though].

I'll post my guess here in a few more days when I can think more clearly. It's just that I've not been in the right frame of mind to give an answer - yet.

It is that Wilson thing, which I don't want to mention on this thread but have to in explanation.

It seems to be at the forefront of my mind and has messed with my head. Ever since they announced they were looking to sell all their houses... the full magnitude of 2 people nearing retirement age [who when they worked weren't even super teachers] owning 700+ FTB style houses has really hit me like never before. It is utterly ridiculous.

At the other place someone posted it would only require 36,000 couples like the Wilsons owing about 700ish houses, and they'd own all the homes in England and Wales.
There are a total of 22,539,000 households in England and Wales. (National Statistics - Census 2001

Please don't let 2 such inane people mess your head DS...not worth it.

That math sum is a bit scary but it's unlikely to happen.
You would have to have willing sellers for the 36,000 mew mad couples to buy from. So, the probability of it happening is very low.

I wouldn't sell to them for a start......cos then I wouldn't have anywhere to live.;)

Lot's of ridiculous stuff goes on in life, some of it winds me up and most wars are started by one person having a bee in their bonnet about something.

Thing is, I remember older people (like my dad) saying to me, over the years, 'oh, such and such will only take 5 years' and I would be distraught as when one is under 45, 5 years seems like forever....so I am not going to say to you ...in 5 years time, things will pan out...but they will.

And, I will bet you a Turkey (to go with the baster that sabretooth is donating) that UK property will not be all owned by lots of Wilson types in the future.

I am the generation below the Wilsons and BTL,multiple Property owning based on lots of MEW is now going very off trend amongst all types that I know.
Fashions/trends /moods really affect things more than economists would like to admit.

There will always be pro LL and a few Wilson types but not enough to blow the bubble up again.

    Sorry for long post....;)

dopester, you're a literary genius (just been reading the other thread!).

Please come back to us - we're missing you - and leave haunting thoughts of the ex-maths teachers behind. There's many who've made fortunes through dubious business methods and exploitation. The Wilsons aren't on their own.

Let's rejoice in the fact that there won't be another 72,000 Wilsonites buying up our entire housing stock and move on with our lives? :)
