I though thats all escorts did :p
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Even if I can get income support I don't want it, I love my job, I love working and Housing Benefit dont pay your mortgage anyway.
Besides, I feel if I go down that Income Support road, Im moving down the ladder not up it. I was on income support briefly for 6 months after I had my little boy and I don't want to go back to that because how do you ever get off it again? I'm gonna leave uni with at least £12,000 of debt hence why Im trying desperately to get some equity in my house now. As a new graduate paying out my student loan repayments I'm never going to get on the property ladder, but I'll be in a stronger position if I leave uni with £140,000 house and £80,000 mortgage.

I know it might not seem do-able but I have to keep the house even if I wanted to jump ship as its fixed rate and there's a hefty penalty for leaving the mortgage within that time.

If you hate men perhaps you should think long and hard before youbecome an escort. anyway I though that was what most students did for work rather than running up loans. Perhaps I read the sport to much.......

My escort has got a dent in it's rear end......
    nothing.

I thought the point of Income Support was to support people in low paid/part-time jobs in order to help them get back into better paid/full-time employment by making it worthwhile for them to take these jobs.

If the mortgage is based on your partners income then how are you going to manage to complete in 3 weeks time without his signiture???

On a more important note ((((hugs)))). good luck to you.

I dunno if this is a daft idea or not but have you got any female student friends that have good references and maybe a clear crb check, that need lodgings? Obviously you would have to be extremely careful as you have your son to think about. Is this a possibility??

I don't know much about this kind of thing but I've read your previous posts. My ideas might not help you but they could be worth looking into.
get low rate mobility, middle rate care as I need a helper to come in a couple of hours a day when my partner is away incase I blackout when cooking. I think what I receive is the minimum, you can't get lower than low rate mobility, and I think (but may be wrong) that the care element only coming in Middle and High rate.

You are claiming disability living allowance. Now that your partner isn't there, the DLA should increase because you will need to have your helper more often than before.
I work 14 hours a week and am a full time student doing my BA
    .

You mentioned in another post that you are doing some private tutoring that you don't declare. Would it help if you declared it now and you could claim for working 16 hours per week?

I enjoyed your thread on being mortgage free in 5 years and I'm sorry to hear your bad news, I hope things get better soon and it wont be to much of a setback for you.

The first thing you need to do is increase your hours to 16 per week (can be 2 hours at another job if you like) this means you can claim tax credits...with a disability element this is quite high..you will be surprised! You will get help with childcare. Re the above post and DLA .. it will not increase because your partner has left ... the amount of help you need has been decided - it does not matter even if you do not get any help - you still are entitled to the allowance for help. Your maintenance is ignored for tax credit purposes - when you add up your wages..your tax credits..your maintenance..reduction in council tax as a single person..you will see that you are better off and will not need to worry about your gas and electric! Honestly ..it will be fine(but you must work the 16 hours!)
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

Thanks everyone, I didn';t realise I could get a disability element to tax credits!? Thought this was only if the child had the disability.

My biggest trouble is between now and October, come october the new installments of student support will start and I can manage again. I'd do more private tutoring but I'm completely exhausted, plus this is going to be hard now without my partner as he looked after the baby when I taught students.

With regard to my partners signature on the mortgage, he isn't on the mortgage. Im a single applicant buying on my own (hence why he's walked away and dropped me in the brown and sticky so easily!) and Id gladly take in a student if I didn't live 70 miles from the university (I commute this distance from manchester to Lancaster). Not sure anyone else would want to do the journey.

Ive worked out I'll have £1308 a month coming in, and £1100 going out, although thats without food, diesel, car tax and clothing considered. The only thing I can do is try and sell my house asap, if I can get £110k (£30k less than I originally hoped) then I can move back to my home town where my family are and cut the commuting a little! Diesel is currently costing between £30-50 a week!

Thanks for all those who've made suggestions, Id press your thanks buttons but they seem to have vanished!
