Well, i've been through this with my best friend and we had to get him to hospital asap. He was in for two weeks and given anti-psychotics. He then went onto Citalopram once he came out. It was cannabis induced too and will get better but it takes time. My friend had no problems afterwards except panic attacks which made him feel like it was happening again but wasn't.
It may be a bad trip - i've had these and got over them, although with weed that's unlikely. If he is still unwell by later today, when any effects should have worn off, you are going to have to call the hospital, as unwanted as that probably is. You also need to tell them that it may have been weed that set it off.
I understand what you're going through. When my friend went, I was terrified, he was speaking languages he doesn't know and was very very paranoid. I could tell some stories that make us both laugh now but I don't want him to read this and know i'm talking about him n a forum.
The main thing is, if he's still ill later, you need to get him help, but he will be okay.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
Oh and the common theme here is the 'self-blame' thing. My friend was apologising to everyone whilst he was in hspital, writing notes to our friends to apologise for all the terrible things he thought he's done to them. He hadn't actually done anything bad to anyone, but was convinced he was 'a bad person' and had hurt people.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0

i don't know what advice to give - other than if it happens again and you are scared, call the police and have him sectioned. he will then get psychiatric help. it sounds like he needs it anyway, but getting him to realise that may be difficult. i hope you're ok - it all sounds very difficult.:happyhear0

The first thing I'd say is look after yourself - you don't have to keep it all to yourself and if you feel the need to talk to someone in the real world you could go to your GP or a walk in centre.
That said, if there's only been one episode and he seems ok today then few medical professionals will do anything except monitor him for another. You don't say how old he is but I'm sure you're aware of age-related risk factors for onset of schizophrenia, so if he's in the age range for likely onset then keep a close eye on him yourself - especially with the paranoid tone of his delusions.
Make sure he isn't smoking any more cannabis as best you can, keep a log of weird or uncharacteristic activity and reassure him if he needs it that you're there for him. And good luck - we focus too much on patients but the people closest to them need help too. Make sure you get it.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hi call your gp out he will then make a decision as to whether he needs a psychiatrist.0

He seems OK-ish now, stayed in bed staring at the wall til about 2pm (he never gets up early anyway) and then started talking about random stuff like a film we saw ages ago. Been to the shop and bought a paper but hasn't read it. I don't know what to say about the cheating thing now, I just want to pretend he never said that. He's just gone into work to place an order and then we are going to the recycling centre!!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Although cannabis is a contributing factor for some people with mental illness, it is not the only cause.
I personally would persuade him to see a GP tomorrow unless things get critical again, in which case I'd go with the out of hours service.
Good luck to both of you

You must have been really scared, even with a health background.
I hope that this is a one off episode and you get all the help and support you need.
