Wedding venue problems - want to cancel.

Nothing surprises me about this venue now. I really don't think he can go any further down in my opinion. He is a low life and obviously doesn't care who he offends and how he makes people feel. Not exactly a good way to run a wedding business.
When I orginally started this thread, I was concerned about the failure of the venue to carry out our booking accordingly. I do comprehend that mistakes can be made but also they can be rectified too. It was this owners complete refusal to take responsibility for his mistakes and make any apologies to us that got my goat the most. His total arrogance seems to make him think that he doesnt have to aplogise for the problems he causes. It seems we are just one in a long line of people who he upsets. Taking him to court has not only been stressful but it has been more expense that we could have done without and has taken up a lot of time and effort to keep focused. OH and I both lead busy lives and this business has fallen at the wrong time for us (not that there ever is a good time). I wish the owner would realise what he puts people through and change his ways. After everything he has put us through, how could he honestly think we would ever want to get married there. My memories of the venue conjour up feelings of hate and horror, not something i want to experience on my wedding day. If we were going ahead, we would be getting married in four months time. It makes me sad to think we wont be getting married anytime soon but at least when we do get married, we can do our research and be safe in the knowledge that we have booked somewhere we feel comfortable.
As for going to the press, I think that is now on hold. With OHs recent press experience, it has put him off any sort of publicity. Not because it was stressful but when people meet him, it is all they want to talk about and it does start to feel a little intrusive. Certainly I don't think national press will be an option but possibly if we did an article in the local papers, it will help brides in the area to think twice about booking their own weddings there. I dont know if the paper would publish though as the venue advertises in the local papers on a regular basis, I am not sure where they would stand with doing an article against the venue and advertising it at the same time!!!!
I don't want anyone else to experience what we have gone through, let alone actually get married there and experience the problems that others have who had their weddings in the awful venue. A friend of a friend recently went there and saw the kitchens and said that they should be shut down on health and safety rules because it was so disgusting (and she wasn't aware of our situation when she told my friend this).
Thanks everyone for your kind posts and your support. I am just hoping that we finally get our money back sometime soon (Not heard from the bailiffs yet so not sure if they have received the court papers to be reactioned but hopefully it wont be long).0 -

Did your friend notify the local Environmental Health office of her concerns?0 -

I am not sure but I don't think so, it was a friend of a friend so dont know the person but thats an interesting thought. I will pass on the advice, thank you. I might be thinking a little selfishly right now but part of me would want her to not whistle blow until we get our money back.0 -

Probably best, but I think a phone call after that event might be in orderAt least that way there would be at minimum a degreee of disturbance and expense for the owners to clean up, and possibly adverse publicity and maybe even fines for breach of statutory regulations.

Neneromanova, although you've blanked out the name of the hotel, the resturant name, when googled, leads directly to the site.0

So not only does he discriminate against disabled people he doesn't like women either. Maybe we should get in touch with the WI and go for a meal there lol.
I don't know it just gets worse and worse.

ah beks i really feel for you and your family, this is such a horrible horrible situation and not to be able to be open about such a massive thing in your lives must be like getting squashed by boulders!!
H2B has alot to deal with what with training coming up doesnt he?
just remember if you ever need to get some more off your chests you can do it here
also keep us updated about H2B's escapades lol xxI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Not a lot to report but yet another review on TA
. All it does is confirm my total disgust in this venue. I did wonder if a member of my family was writing reviews on my behalf but they have assured me that they aren't (and TBH I dont think they would but I had to ask)!!! 73% of the reviews do not recommend the venue - just shocking! I cannot understand how he really thinks he can continue like he is. I am hoping that the latest review will contact environmental health themselves.
We phoned the courts last Thursday but didn't really get much help other than for them to confirm that we had won but nothing had yet been instigated. The court have recently changed their rules and you can only speak to the bailiffs between 8.30 and 9.30 so we will have to do it again this week. The sooner the better! It does seem so frustrating that the courts take so long to do anything. It is 2 weeks since we won the case yet have heard nothing since and presumably that means the owner has not had the court papes either so is carrying on merrily unaware. Not that I think that !!!! gives two hoots about it tbh.
I am going to keep away from any dealings with booking our wedding as I really seem to have no luck with venues!! I booked our village hall for my daughters 3rd birthday last week and was phoned the day before to tell me they had double booked!!!!! I spent her birthday running round trying to find another hall! Luckily we got one though but it was still stressful! Maybe it is me who is jinxed!
Steph - I really dont think he gives a damn about who he upsets so long as he gets their money first and they are not golfers!
Bubbles - yes H2b is training a lot now and we dont see a lot of each other anymore! We dont find out until May if he is actually going so he is trying to get as fit as he possibly can before then as he has fitness tests to go through in Norway. It was quite funny when we were being interviewed as journalists were asking when we were getting married ... we had to just say, when we find the time. He even had to write that on the expedition website. Our friends have stopped asking us when we will get married and tbh, we have lost all motivation but if the expedition goes ahead, part of me would want to be married before he went incase anything happened!
. I cannot see how we would fit that in though so might be as good to check our wills are updated first!

oh gawd! it gives me the eeby jeebies when people talk bout leaving this earth!
well if he does go(on the expedition!!) you can pop down the register office before and then have a wedding/coming home party when he comes back
or a renewal of vows and have a big white wedding type thing
what do you mean 'if' he goes? does he have to pass the tests first?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0
