Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 6th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all
welcome2.gifback Pipkin hon
Sistercas - It was supposed to be but there was a problem and he sent his apology plus some goodies that they raffled and raised quite a lot of money. My OH did meet some bands I should have heard of but haven't, but the teenagers seemed to enjoy...*chuckles*
Catznine - hugs.giffor little Penny,
Nic1 - I bet you had the MOST fun! Even if it was (I imagine) hard to get them all to agree
Seaside - I freeze loads of peppers - if we get them cheap or inthe summer like now when I have way too many. I slice them and freeze them in layers and then once frozen just throw them in a freezer bag or lock and lock. They aren't great to eat fresh but for throwing into your cooking they are absolutely fine. The biggest pepper plant was grown in a greenhouse but the Redskin and all the others are just out in the sheltered part of the garden.
helyg - slippers for school?
lillibet - at £6 I would! And I hope the cottage is as nice as you remember.

Saturday was quiet for me and I think today will be too. Not sure if Tris is logging on today so will stay up a while and then go back to bed if needs be. We are having yellow stickered pies from the freezer for Sunday lunch with carrots and green beans from the garden, and roast potatoes.

Have decided to ask our neighbour if we can use a small corner section of his garden next year to grow veg on. He doesn't do gardening of any kind really and only mows when the grass gets too high so thought we could ask him and pay him in veg!

Can't remember who asked but someone wanted to see my purple fence so HERE is a link. (Can you tell I finally got the hang of flikr??:rotfl:). Please be aware that it was all in need of a weed and the lawn cutting, and the bank at the front is bare because we are stripping it of ivy and brambles and it's taking a long time!
Warm gentle grouphug.gif for anyone who wants one! Have a relaxed and peaceful Sunday.

Morning Diva & all who follow

i woke about an hour ago and couldn`t nod back off so i decided to get up and start the day. The washing is almost ready to hang out as i can hear the machine spinning but i think that i`d be better waiting for daylight to do this :D

I`ve just taken some chicken out of the freezer for dinner later and some chicken livers to make pate with - hope that i can find the recipe now, i also have some odds and ends of lamb to use up so i shall make a casserole in the slow cooker later.

Today we are taking Dad to the big shopping centre to spend some gift cards that he has been saving and hopefully tidying the garden a bit more.

I`m going to spend the next hour or so browsing and drinking more tea so a nice lazy start to the day which is a nice change.

Back later - have a good day peeps.

    SD

Edit - Diva your fence looks lovely!
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Morning Sunny!

Thank you for the comments on my fence today and my peppers yesterday - I am so in love with flikr and how easy it is to use it, I wish I had discovered it yonks ago!

I just put the washing machine on too, there is something very comforting about it chuntering away in the background! Hope you enjoy your relaxed start to the day hon and enjoy the rest of it too!

    Morning,

It must be illegal to be up at this time on a Sunday ;). DD2 woke up a 5am with a nightmare:eek:, so she is snoozing in my bed, but it woke DS up so he wanted his bottle and wanted to get up, so here i am watching engie benjie .

Yes must admit nice to ease yourself into the day though;).

SIL, BIL and DN are coming round today so it will be nice to see them.

Brisket for Tea today, We're abit fished out after the pie y'day, can i freeze it it's got hardboiled eggs in it?

WM will be whizzing away in a bit, it's still quite dark here had to put the lamps on. so hopefully will be lighter when washing needs to go out, got 2 loads already to be hung ;).

Hope you all have a relaxed Sunday

Forgot to say lovely colour fence MSD

Also this is going on today might pop along for a laugh :D

    Is officially 48% tight :D
  • Don't you worry about your neighbours when you have your washing machine on? Or are you all lucky enough not to have any neighbours?
Our washing machine is quite loud and shakes a lot... if I stand in the kitchen when it's on it feels like a earthquake because the whole room shakes! So I'd be too scared to have it on before 10am!
Dogs and Cats are better than kids because they eat less, don't ask for money... and if they get pregnant, you can sell their children!

Getting ready for a truely OS week this week. Have planned to cook at least 6 meals for the freezer tomorrow (for when I really can't be bothered to cook!), went through my cupboard of Christmas presents last night (my boys have been finding them!) and wrapped as many as I had - am 90% DONE!!

Have decided what I'm going to be cooking this month for Christmas. My plan is to have it all in the freezer so I just have to take it out and defrost. Although its not particularly OS (as I'll be shopping for ingredients) when I've got them it will keep me busy and get me ahead!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

  • Morning, just housework for me today.

RE Washing machines that are noisy and neighbours, woke up early yesterday and my neighbours washing machine was on and it was on until I went to bed and it is annoying. I do go out of course but when you work hard all week noise irritates me if I want peace and quiet.

I think it is considerate to wait until 10 a.m. although 9 a..m would be fine by me but feel it should stop at 8 p.m but then maybe thats selfish of me.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

    Morning all

Had a lovely day with both DD's and "bridesmaids to be" yest. A dress was agreed on after them trying on what seems like hundreds, they (and I) had a great time:D We had lunch at the wedding venue between appointments and had a lovely day. The shop is doing us a really good deal too so all in all a really productive day. The dresses are going to be beautiful too:D

We ended up going across the Pennines to visit friends in Manchester yest evening so had a lovely chatty end to the day too.

No specific plans for today, although DH is talking about going for a run out again (he seems to love driving his "new" car:rolleyes:) so not sure where we will end up. Think may go out for lunch as I have some clubcard vouchers that are nearing expiry date so might go to Bella Italia or somewhere for a "free" lunch:j

    Have a lovely day everyone
