We go every February for a few days running. We like to stay around Playa Fanabe/Torviscas. Loads of nice cheap restaurants at Playa Colon around the corner, and nice bars at Torviscas along the cliff
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I did go, but didn't like the accomm very much so am looking for somewhere different.

I really need an apartment rather a hotel so am desperate for recommendations. I can't trust Tripadvisor sometimes as the reviews are so wide ranging, but somewhere quiet and not full of stags and hens is a must.

It's not school holiday time btw, just v. early spring, so hopefully there won't be too many people around. :)

Dd and I went in March 2009 and stayed Costa Adeje, but in a hotel. Adeje is a nice location too. We enjoyed the walk along the seafront into the main part of the resort, quite a good walk but lovely and good to get the exercise too!

Never found the chavvy youngsters problem anywhere in the Canaries out of the main season. The opposite actually in that there are so many oldies there at that time!

There is a thread on here atm with a link to appt in Parque Santiago, presume you've seen that, looks nice , don't know about ££though! Have you looked on Owner's Direct for availability then come back here to see if anyone's stayed there?

Agree with what you say about Tripadvisor, there are so many reviews with people with very limited posting history there now, that it can be tricky to gauge.

Nobody can spend more time making the decision about where we stay than me!!!

Will have a little look tonight, thinking about a bit of sunshine for end of Jan ourselves.

I don't think Torviscas is that hilly, remember there's Torviscas Alto too, if you do want to walk up the hill!!

I like the Torviscas/Fanabe area, got a favourite restaurant over there, Pizzeria San Marco.

There's also a nice beach called La Pinta. Right at the La Pinta Hotel. Also handy if you want an apartment is Club Atlantis. Never stayed there, but it used to get really good reviews.

Fanabe beach in Costa Adje is very nice, as is the area itself, nice clientelle, lovely reasonably priced restaurants.
Its between PDLA and Playa del Duque. We have been twice and if returning to Tenerife would pick this area again.
I second that, we go every year for 4 mini breaks including the end of February and the weather is always in the 70's-80's. There are some nice cheap restaurants and bars, example chicken dinner 7 euros, jug of Sangria 5 euros. We stay at the Sunset Harbour Club, fantastic fully equipped self contained apartments, they even have a dishwasher and full size fridge. I think in March they are renovating the pool so it will be out of action but a 1 minute walk to the beach, and the rates are cheaper for then because of the pool. Fanabe is by far the nicest area of PDLA

We are staying at Hotel Isabel when we go, it is about 600m from Playa de Fanabe (the man made beach with white sand rather than volcanic sand.) Though it is called a hotel the accommodation is a choice of apartments and villas.

It seems to be nicer than PDLA, though even that gets better review these days.

It was only a few pounds more to have B&B rather than self catering, it has a pool that is heated in winter and a kids club and bar, ticked all of our boxes for a relaxing couple of weeks in winter.
