I have just been on the ryanair site and tried to book flights to milan, they are £2.99 each, 1 way, i was booking for 3 people. but the price ended up 122.49 1 way for the 3 of us. and £98 of that was fees and taxes. how on earth do you di it at the advertised prices??

    Easy, during the 1p sales,

Book midweek flights, pay with a Visa Electron card and take up to 10Kg of hand luggage only. Print 'boarding cards, in comfort of own home. Go to airport and get on the big blue yellow and white thing.

Watch their web-site and wait for a £1 or 1p sale, like the one this week. They start at midnight, also posted on this site's forums soon after usually
(9 mins later in the case of this last one) although quite possibly there was an even earlier posting.

Can't quite understand where you're comming from? I use my Electron card and pay what it says on the 'Tin' A 2p return is what it costs, online check-in included. Perhaps you need to hone your moneysaving skills!
Yes... we established a while ago that the online check-in fee doesn't apply to promotional fares but for 'standard' fares it is still dressed up by Ryanair as 'optional' when in fact it is not optional but compulsory which is indisputably misleading. That is my point. :)

    Hello Crabman,

You could read 'Optional fees/charges' as they there are optional fees but charges which are not optional on top.

However, Ryanair (as far as I've seen) only write that message on headline prices where you'd never pay for online check in anyway.

I'm too busy being excited about my £2 return to Dublin tomorrow to worry bout something that's free anyway!

No worries, I'm sure it doesn't bother most people (apart from the OfT/CAA), then again the booking process is designed to catch out those who aren't fully aware of their tactics. Hope you enjoy Dublin :)

Despite all the adverts proclaiming 1p and free seats, have you ever tried doing a return trip?

    I have finally done it.

Borrowed my teenage daughters Electron card (it's almost impossible to get hold of one for adults) and booked 4 return trips to Dublin for the day for 8p.

    :T

Yes - you really beat the system - well done.
  • I've just applied for an Easycash account. Im forever booking flights for myself and my family to visit Ireland on Ryanair and the booking fee ends up bumping up the deal quite a bit.
    :p LOVES A FREEBIE :p

Done it dozens of times. There's absolutely nothing difficult about finding these flights when the offers are on providing you are willing to travel midweek with hand luggage only.
It's VERY EASY FOR ANYONE to get hold of an Electron card.
