I used to read this sub-forum as an area for information. Now all I read is slanging matches, discussions about slanging matches, ego-boosting posts and all this nonsense.

Its been said before but you guys wont influence the house crash/inflation so just go with the flow. Woop de do its rising up now, woop de do its falling a bit now. I dont own my own home... and neither do most people on this thread... if you got a mortgage you own a part of your home and the bank owns the rest.. and in turn you.

House prices could do the insane/unexpected and rise because people are just people .... people like getting in debt.. and the only way prices would fall again is repossession repossession repossession... which would've happened if the government hadn't slammed IR to the floor.

I think the government will prefer inflation and low IR than a falling housing market and general bad feelings about government.

Just me and julie down here in the gutter.

Now then. What do you want to make of that? Was it just a joke, or a terrible ad hominomy insult.

I think it would hve been an attack if you named people and gave them a dressing down for dressing down other people. As I said, I think few/no one on either side has entirely clean hands.

If this is true then I would have thought you'd be the last person to indulge in a bit of trolling against a fellow forum member, indeed against a fellow female (I saw your earlier posts to julieq with the condescending "love" and "dear" appellation and was appalled that it came from a woman). I was hoping that my gentle dig about 'obsession' would give you pause for thought, but you seem bent on driving julieq from the forum.

I have been appalled with the amount of bullying that has gone on in the latter pages of this thread, it's as though a section of members are ganging together to try to force julieq from the site. I don't agree with many of the things that forum members say (including julieq) but I would not want a single one of them to leave the forum, especially if they are encouraged to leave due to bullying.

If you have an issue with a post then use the power of debate to pick apart the argument. If you descend to personal attacks then all you're doing is signalling to the rest of the forum that you simply do not have the intellect to debate successfully and so you're having to resort to personal insults to try obscure this fact.

    Please stop it.

I thanked you for so sweetly reproducing my post almost verbatim - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If you read my last post to Cleaver, you'll note that I call him dear. In fact, I'm sure I've called many posters 'dear' - even you, Harry, in one of your many incarnations.

Calling random strangers, male or female, dear or love is one of the delightful privileges of age, like saying things like 'My, haven't you grown'.

I'm sure many forum members will savour the delightful irony of Dithering Dad attacking another poster for obsessive bullying! - nay the very poster he pursues obsessively through incarnation after incarnation!

I honestly have no idea why you bother.

Surely you can find some better ways to fill your days?

    Or maybe not.

Your problem, ultimately. Best of luck with it all - genuinely.

Carolt, I give up trying to appeal to your better nature because I am beginning to feel that you don't have one. I also don't believe anyone is fooled by your assertion that you referred to julieq as "love" or "dear" in any other way than in a condescending manner. Nor is anyone fooled by your various attempts to deflect my criticism by accusations of sock puppetry. Whatever happened between yourself and Dithering Dad occurred a long time ago and was between you and he. End of.

If you want to attack me, then feel free to look into my past posts for any personalised attacks on individuals or any evidence of my trying to whip up bad feeling against other posters. You will not find anything, though it's a shame we could not say the same for you.

I'm not sure what your problem is carolt, but you really don't come across very well on this forum. I saw a post a month or so ago of yours where you said you were going to turn over a new leaf and be a nicer person. That didn't seem to last very long, but the fact that you even acknowledged you had a problem was a step in the right direction. Perhaps you should try again and this time try harder?

p.s. I see that I am not the only person that thinks you have gone too far in your bullying, one of your posts has been censored by a member of the MSE forum team (post #305) "Last edited by MSE ForumTeam3; Today at 9:13 AM.. ". Though I dare say you'll re-edit this shortly to hide the fact....

You're going to have to be made of tougher stuff if you're going to post here, as a woman.

I've had reams of obscene filth thrown at me - if the worst "insult" you can find is that you were called a Yummy Mummy, I honestly can't see what you're complaining about - it's a compliment, actually. It's not as if they called you a bag lady or a fishwife or something.

By all means air your view - all views are welcome - but TBH most criticisms aimed at you were gender-neutral - that you were (a) dull or (b) wrong. Neither of which seem that terribly personally offensive to me.

Not everyone loves London. Many people really hate it - me included. I would happily give up 25% of my pay if I could work say 4 days from home - and technology does allow it - there is just an attitude problem from management. If I could totally work from home I would be prepared to accept a cut of 50% to 75% of my salary - and I would relocate to a place that would offer me a much better quality of life despite the pay reduction.

In the UK there is not much scope for equalization as the North is overvalued as it is given the awful quality of life it offers. But there is a great scope for international equalisation. That would, of cause, push UK house prices well down.

Also the 50% tax on bankers might result even in offices shifting to friendlier countries.

I didn't infer that everyone loves London, I certainly would not want to live there inspite of the increased salary I could achieve.

Got to disagree with your North and quality of life statement.
Maybe you are naive, but there are many factors which improve the quality of life "up North"

I'm not aware of anyplace that currently allows to work from home 4 days out of five. There are a number of companies working 4 1/2 day weeks, 9 day fortnights or even 4 day weeks. I know a couple of others that will allow on occasion to phone in and advise you will be working from home, but this is on occasion, not as standard.

Can I be the first to admit that I had to go on to Wikipedia to look up 'ad hominem'.

I already knew. Had been accused of it before.
