I'm not a frustrated anything. I've made enough money to own a house outright and have plenty of cash on top; I have a great job and a very satisfying life. I don't have any debt. I certainly don't need advice on investments from frustrated wanabee homeowners.

Voila, just what we were saying.

Hardly any of us are "frustrated wannabe homeowners".

Most of us own homes! Neither do we go round saying "I'm far richer than yow".

Her posts are really well written and make some excellent points in my opinion.

I sometimes wonder whether some users of this website lack the modesty and / or intelligence to identify well-written posts that they can appreciate yet completely disgree with. I don't often agree with anything dopester or amcluesent post, but they post in an intelligent thoughtful way, so I would say that they are great posters.

I totally agree, I think some go out of their way to wind her up to discredit what she writes. (it pee's me off when people start getting personal just because they don't agree with what you have written)

Lets face it if she was classed as a "bear" most of the "bear followers" would have a fit at her treatment.

On dopester or amcluesent they have the brains to listen to both sides also and debate. (debate is about listening to both sides and being prepared to have your views challenged by evidence etc.).
Mine and dopesters overall view may be different but he never starts calling some one a "debt Junkie" if they have written something and backed it up with some kind of facts.

Are we not here to have our views challenged?

I have had some great debates over the past on here some have helped me make decisions about my future.

I find it fairly pitiful at the moment that some just come on here because they want to be part of some "virtual gang". If that's some ones only motivation in life the board is very much in trouble.

    See above.

But you've only posted once.

How could you 2 have a 'history'?

And of course being categorised in another thread as a "yummy mummy" is patronising and sexist, it's also pathetic and cowardly to say that in a thread I wasn't active in.

You're going to have to be made of tougher stuff if you're going to post here, as a woman.

I've had reams of obscene filth thrown at me - if the worst "insult" you can find is that you were called a Yummy Mummy, I honestly can't see what you're complaining about - it's a compliment, actually. It's not as if they called you a bag lady or a fishwife or something.

By all means air your view - all views are welcome - but TBH most criticisms aimed at you were gender-neutral - that you were (a) dull or (b) wrong. Neither of which seem that terribly personally offensive to me.

Why does it always have to get so vile? If someone's posts are not worth reading then its possible to put them on ignore or exercise self discipline.

I'm with cleaver on this. I think julieq adds significantly to the board. I don't always like the posts but they are valuable nonethless. I haven't posted on open board but I have been talking to cleaver about this. the threads where one person gets a kicking by many, as opposed to an ''animated discussion between two posters'' are horrid, wether its julieq, shakerbaby, or whoever has made the transgression of the day. I don't think it comes down to ''sides'' but as its inevitably dragged up, both ''sides'' are guilty.

I find I'm dithering with the thanking because good posts, ones I agree with or have paused for thought over, contain insults, now while the thanks helps as a book mark for me I'm also tyring to stick to new resolve to keep out of the serious insult war.

    Remember my PM yesterday Carol.;)

    Um...no.

Are you confusing me with someone else?

Edit: Just worked out who you might be.

Can I just say - as a friend - that is a really, really appalling choice of username.

    just looked it up.

I (used to) use the board for education. Looking things up and forming an opinion or making a submission to move discussion along might be part of that. I don't see anything wrong in that. I also think its possible people do things besides post on here. :) Its impossible to guess atthe timing of people's timed responses. They could be working, having a cup of tea and a natter, or visiting the loo: no way for us to know, nor can it matter on the internet.

If its a credability issue with using references, than the fact we all have weird names and don't know anything about each other is more of an issue for me!

It was my 'joke' phase, (is there anything else these days:D), so I picked up a few song titles from Cannibal Corpse, one of my favourite death metal bands. Much like the band themselves they are not to be taken too seriously......... anyway back to the topic in question.

Never saw you as a death metal fan.

Suddenly feeling very old and mumsy....

If this is true then I would have thought you'd be the last person to indulge in a bit of trolling against a fellow forum member, indeed against a fellow female (I saw your earlier posts to julieq with the condescending "love" and "dear" appellation and was appalled that it came from a woman). I was hoping that my gentle dig about 'obsession' would give you pause for thought, but you seem bent on driving julieq from the forum.

I have been appalled with the amount of bullying that has gone on in the latter pages of this thread, it's as though a section of members are ganging together to try to force julieq from the site. I don't agree with many of the things that forum members say (including julieq) but I would not want a single one of them to leave the forum, especially if they are encouraged to leave due to bullying.

If you have an issue with a post then use the power of debate to pick apart the argument. If you descend to personal attacks then all you're doing is signalling to the rest of the forum that you simply do not have the intellect to debate successfully and so you're having to resort to personal insults to try obscure this fact.

    Please stop it.

Everyone seems to be occupying the moral high ground, some of them even on horseback.

Just me and julie down here in the gutter.

Now then. What do you want to make of that? Was it just a joke, or a terrible ad hominomy insult.
