  • Hiya, I know that it all looks black but the posters above have offered excellent advice. Post your SOA and some clever will sort it all out for you.
I was recently, at the age of 48, in the position where my wife and I had paid off all our debt, bought a brand new Audi cash and life was looking good. Then the missus says she doesn't want to be with me.
I do not want be back in rented accommodation having to split the money and worrying about my pension, but you just have to get on with it.
I hope that you get yourself sorted out and, lets face it, if you start on your debts now you are on the road to freedom.
Stay positive, you are still young enough to start again.

    Best wishes.
Now debt free and lovin' life
  • I live at home and whilst overall it is pretty good I do at times despair of ever having a life, it can be a very embarrassing thing to admit and makes relationships impossible.

Two years ago I had 24000 of debt, now its around 14, not great could have paid off more but hey its done now. It took me ages to get in to the swing of it but I am going to be debtfree. This website has completely changed my life I have made some wonderful friends who have helped me through some horrible times and never fail to make me laugh. Don't under estimate the power of this place! Its an absolute gift.

    Please post your SOA.

  • Your health is far more important than anything else.

I'm single, live on my own with a mortgage and managing and I'm older than you! I went on a dmp 18 months ago and was originally told that it would take me 9 years to clear my debt but I've managed to reduce that term to 5 years which is not as scary.

You are important so please try to get rid of those negative thoughts. It's hard, but I've learnt that my health both mental and physical are far more important than money.

    Good luck.

What's the point? I was over 29K in debt 4 years ago before I came on this site (albeit using puppet).

Listen to what the people say on here as they have been there or are still there in the same situation as yourself.

    Look at your positives
    - You are living at home
    - You have a Job
    - Your parents obviously still care for you

When you think why are you doing this, remember you have reached the first rung of the ladder in admiting there is a problem.

Hard work, less time out, money to spend on yourself and it will gradually lower the debt you owe.

I'm down to around 3K owed now. Come xmas and it will all be gone. Look forward to that day and you'll give youself something to aim to and look forward to.
30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.

I love this post. What a fantastic example you are (certainly for me!).

Losing it, I hope you come back and see the support you have here and I hope it gives you courage to try and use that support to tackle what's in front of you.

    hello Losing it

When I read your post the first thing that comes accross is annoyance.

If you can sit back and look at the situation in a littlle more of an abstract way then I promise you a new way to deal with debt will come to you.

When you finally feel the motivation to set goals and stick to them you will find the reward.

Yes you are in debt, yes you live at home but no it is not the end and no it is not just an existence.

You know perhaps if you can shake the annoyance off then you will find a mate?

It will happen, just when you don't expect it to.

    Stay strong xx

  • Ok, so how much inactiviy is required before this pesky timeout kicks in and you become logged out, this is the second time I've typed out a post only to find it's timed out when I've come to post.....eeerrrggghhh.

Are you just quicker typists or am I writing too much?

    I'll try again.
